Reduced the trigger pull down to 3.5 pounds, added Tech Sights, a sling, and a 40$ stock I found sitting in the back of a local gun store. Now all I need is a vertical frontpenis and I'll have the most tactical 22 of them all!

3. Know your topic. If you’re going to disagree with someone, make sure you know exactly what you’re talking about. Seriously. Saying that you hate liberals is a bad way to go about making your beliefs clear. Saying that you don’t like liberal’s point of view is slightly better, but you still haven’t provided a reason for your beliefs.

Providing a reason for your adds legitimacy to your point of view (so long as your reason isn’t completely ridiculous), and shows that you’ve put at least a few seconds of thought into a particular topic. This is a good thing. Vague and general statements make you look uneducated on the topic at hand. Add some detail. This especially applies if you’re going to talk about social or political issues.

You have the World Wide Web, a goddamn repository of information on practically every topic you could think of at your fingertips. If you don’t know a term, definition, political party, etc, go look it up on Wikipedia. No, don’t go do to your favorite news source, go to Wikipedia. You’ll have enough of a biased viewpoint on your own, you don’t need to read an article specifically catered to your bias.

And no matter where you go, don’t just spout out whatever facts catch your attention. Read what looks relevant, and don’t discard it just because whatever it says does not agree with you. We’re not always right. And remember, it’s better to be skeptical than it is to just blindly spout out whatever you may find as if it is the ultimate- and only- truth.

So, now that you've hopefully read what I posted in conjunction with my last figure, I've got some more things to talk about.

2. Etiquette. You’re posting on what is essentially a forum. Posting, not instant messaging. There’s a huge difference. You have time to add proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation to your posts, and you should do so. It’s also a good idea to re-read what you’re about to post, maybe even say it out loud, to make sure that what you've typed makes sense. This isn't a race, you’re not chatting in real-time. You can spellcheck your posts. This leads me into my next point:

If you’re going to discuss anything, you need to make sure your phrasing is good, and by this I mean you need to make sure your posts don’t appear to be crazy or ridiculous. If you’re talking about a political figure, ie the President , or a party, like the Republican party, don’t say that you hate that group. Nor should you personally insult them. It makes you look childish and rude. Oh, and provide reasons for your beliefs.

So don’t say “I hate Obama” or “I hate xXxSniperbrick420xXx” Say something like “I dislike Obama’s policies on the war in Iraq” or “I don’t like xXxSniperbrick420xXx because he posts rude and derogatory statements.” That’s not a personal attack, it conveys your point in a manner that is far less insulting and inflammatory, and it provides an actual reason for your beliefs.

At the same time, you're not projecting your opinion onto the target at hand- by saying you believe something, rather than what you say is the truth, you come across as much more open and willing to discuss matters civilly, rather than a pretentious asshat. The same goes for political parties, fans of a show, or really any group of people in general. Don’t say that you hate purists, SW fans, or Liberals. Say that you disagree with their beliefs, and state your reason. That way, you might be able to hold an intelligent conversation for more than a few seconds.

Afternoon, y'all. I’ve been seeing a lot more political and social discussion on Flickr recently, and I want to address this topic a bit, since there seems to be a distinct lack of proper etiquette and overall knowledge in said discussions. First, off, I’d like to go over the rules of political and social discussion on Flickr. As you've probably noticed, I totally used an unrelated photo in the hopes of attracting attention.

1. DON’T DO IT.
We are a community because we all enjoy a particular hobby, in this case, LEGO. In terms of beliefs and age (not so much race or socioeconomic status), we are fairly diverse. What brings us together is LEGO. What breaks us apart is discussing controversial and inflammatory shit that has no relation to our shared interests. If you want to discuss politics with the LEGO community, do it in private, or via instant message boards and the like.

Bringing up these topics in public circles used for LEGO discussion is a great way to cause a lot of anger, flaming, and infighting among our community, and that isn’t chill. And as you probably don’t know, I’m part of an organization that’s all about being chill.
