One of the spots I worked last night had these cool rocks right near the edge. I originally set out to light-paint the tree you see on the right and then thought of light-painting the rocks too. I ended up liking the rocks, but not the tree. That's the way it goes sometimes

This is a focus stack since my 1.4 lens can't focus on the rocks and the stars at the same time

Canon 5DMII, Rokinon 24mm f/1.4 at 1.4, ISO3200, 20 seconds

I've done this shot before, but had some time last night and decided to try it again. I think this tree and rock are in almost every local light-painter's photostream...

I like the thin band of clouds that came in. It looks like it is trying to hold the light pollution down

This is a focus stack since my f/1.4 lens won't focus that close and still have the Milky Way in focus.

Milky Way over Tenaya Lake in Yosemite National Park.

Very clear night last night in Yosemite, so I took advantage of it and returned to try to take some more MW images with Tenaya Lake in the foreground.

The moon had not risen yet, so I decided to use silhouettes for the foreground. I was struck by the strong triangles in this composition.

The light pollution is from Fresno to the south.
