St ives harbour colours

St Ives, The colours here never cease to amaze, nowhere else like it in the UK for me for contrasting bright light, fantastic, this bit of sky was the only bit I caught pretty much all day, the sun burnt away all the cloud shortly after this leaving a plain lifeless sky so glad I caught this, used a B+W polariser here to just up the colour contrast in camera, also helping to hold back the highlights a little. This tiny little seaside town still remains one of my favourite places in the UK outside of Scotland.

Porth Nanven - a rocky road to the isles

Porth Nanven, Cornish coast, some of the biggest boulders you will see on the coast round here, its a 'raised beach' geological feature, and as such is an SSSI, fantastic place. The 2 Islands that can be seen in the distance are The Brisons, don't think I'll get to do those 2!

View On Black Shot from the beach at Flamborough Head, East Yorkshire, this was actually a very bright day around Midday (12:04), I decided to use the 10 stop filter to show some movement in the water, 3 seconds being enough to expose the image and still capture some wave movement. Whereas normally I wouldn't shoot long exposures at this time of day in bright light, the 10 stop filter acts more like a 2 or 3 stop filter in these conditions so it's still really useful for obtaining slower speeds, giving differing effects.

View On Black I've had quite a few goes at these moving tube / still person shots now, but it's rare I seem to get anything that I like that much due to off timing, blur, some other issue, this one I like though with the interest of the advertisement and the roof of the station seems to tie in nicely in monochrome. Nikon 10.5mm F2.8 fisheye, 1/5, F22, ISO1000 handheld.

No intro needed....Great weather here today taking various shots of the Houses of Parliament, the sun momentarily dropped through the clouds right onto the buildings, illuminating them against the sky which amzingly was pretty much perfect given the time of day, an hour or so laterthe sky was completely plain, such a contrast to the horrific weather of the day before at the FA Cup Semi final at Wembley!

View On Black click here A great random find in South London, near Vinopolis, Borough Market, not easy to shoot as the was lots of very bright sky, and distractions, trying to fill the frame solely with colour was a challenge.

I've got this classic Nikon film camera on loan at the moment, shooting a 24 exposure B&W film through it over the next week or so, gorgeous looking camera, and feels great to use too, couldn't resist shooting this with a bit of Bokeh for added effect. First time I've used the Nikon 35mm 1.8G for a while, ideal for this.
