Summer Plans

Finally there are hints of summer around here.
My work obligations will prevent any long holidays this year, but I still have a goal of getting to four BC Provincial Parks this summer. Ones I haven't been to before!!
Hope you all are able to enjoy a roadtrip too.

After work & school yesterday we went for a walk. Sam and his mother's dog, Tessa. Niki, Mike with Lucy & Solo joined us out in Poco along the Pitt River. It was the first blue-sky day in June. Sam rode his bike, the dogs ran & explored, the rest of us strolled along at a relaxing pace. Mike spotted a ton of wildlife. We nibbled on wildberries. It was surpisingly warm! Everyone was content.
3 broken windows greeted us back at the parking lot. Niki's, mine and in an odd coincidence one of Sam's teachers passenger windows were all smashed in.
I'm not sure what was taken from the other two. From ours the stole Sam's Nintendo 3DS (with Pokemon game) and my little black satchel that holds my camera filters, spare battery, memory cards, etc. Guess it looks like a purse but the $5 in change they left sitting on the seat would be worth more to them! Not to me. :(
Sam cried. So did the little girl from the other car. Glass everywhere. The adults have to deal with insurance and window replacement. The inconvenience and violation far outweigh the tiny value the vandals gained.
I'm doing my best to remember - it was beautiful walk.

I like taking landscape photos. I love being outside even more. But my favourite thing to do is be in the company of this character.
We've been having many fun outings lately. Some big. Others shorter like last night.
Put our two bikes on the Xterra and headed off to North Van for a little ride. The ride out was slightly uphill but he made it. I insisted we stop at this incredible field of lupines.
Did my best to entertain and distract him since the amazing natural beauty didn't hold his attention very long. He read some signs about water. Timed him while he did laps of the field. He played on my iPhone. Let him wander. Finishing up with a couple games of hide n' seek (he hides better than me). But when it obvious he was done with the flowers we turned around.
He preferred the bike ride back downhill. Especially when we took a detour down some mountain bike trails. A couple of hours very well spent!

(if you live in the Vancouver area, do yourself a favour and go check this field out while it is still in full bloom!!)
