My cousins and I arrived in Jasper late in the day just before dusk. We started out on Jasper excursions fairly early in the morning, by going out to Pyramid Lake. The weather was cold and brisk for the time of year, but the it would turn out to be clear for most of the day.

We had stopped for a walk on Pyramid Island. The view was simply gorgeous, and just had to be captured.

Taken on Pyramid Island, Jasper, Alberta, Canada on 23 October 2012.

P.S. I am home, safe and sound, arriving in at 2:00am on the 29th.

Our first snowfall occurred a couple of days ago, and it has been cold ever since. I stopped by the lake at Centennial Park, in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada, yesterday while driving around looking for a winter scene to photograph.

The light, snow, and the first freeze of the lake's surface, caught my attention in this scene.

On Saturday, 2009-11-28, I joined up with some of my fellow members of Focus Camera Club to do a photo walk, to two of Moncton's car dealers. The first stop was at the BMW dealer, which also happened to be the Mini Cooper dealer.

This Mini was in the showroom under neon lights, and I just liked the colours and reflections on the car. It sort of reminded me of long eyelashes in this reflection. :)

As a side note, this was shot at ISO 3200 without a flash.

I would like to thank BMW Moncton for having us out there on Saturday.

There was a East African Crowned Crane milling about in a large enclosure, with the storks and the zebra. It really is an amazing looking bird, and I just had to take several shots.

On Monday, 15 Jun 2009, I had gone for a stroll on the Gunningsville Bridge, in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada, where I had captured the "Great Blue Heron in Flight" shot. I had parked the car down, and started up to the bridge, when the purple lupin to my right caught my eye.

I thought the purple lupin would make a nice shot for a certain Flickr friend, but didn't expect the topper on the flowers. There was a Savannah Sparrow sitting on top of the lupin! That was too much to pass up!!

The other Christmas Cactus on the window ledge at my Mother's has bloomed again this morning, with this blossom that reminded me of a dancer.

The two Christmas Cacti that Mother has produce different coloured blooms. This one, or the red one, produces a few flowers only, while the yellow one will often produce a dozen.

While out visiting my friend, and photographing his yellow orchid, he also showed me a few other plants. This one, he called, a Zebra plant. Please look here for a shot of the flower top.

In the morning of the same day that we walked Irishtown Nature Park, my friend and I also walked in Mapleton Park.

I caught sight of some birds that I didn't recognize and my friend indicated they were mourning doves. I wasn't fast enough to catch the two that quickly flew away when I pointed the camera, and in an instant this one would be gone as well.

Mapleton Park is located in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada.

Red Trail @ Irishtown Nature Park (20081027-143748-PJG)

After lunch a couple of days ago, my friend and I decided to add another park to our walking foray. We went out to Irishtown Nature Park for a small walk. Neither of us had been in that park before.

Considering that neither of us had hiking boots, we decided against the rougher yellow trail, and proceeded down the red trail of the park. Although the red trail is nearly 5 km (or 3 miles) long, we eventually walked about 80% of it. The trail meanders through the woods and crosses the Irishtown reservoir and circles back. The trail is well marked by both the path and the red spray paint every so many trees. :)

The Irishtown Nature Park is located on Elmwood Drive on the outskirts of Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada.

This afternoon, after lunch, my friend and I decided to add another park to our walking foray. We went out to Irishtown Nature Park for a small walk. Neither of us had been in that park before.

I was hoping to catch sight of either the eagles or the ospreys but outside of the odd seagull there was no bird activity by the time we got to this body of water, the city's old water supply.

The Irishtown Nature Park is located on Elmwood Drive on the outskirts of Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada.

94.9% Full Moon (20081013-192426-PJG)

As I got home tonight around 7:15pm, I looked up at the sky and saw the nearly Full Moon. It was just too much to pass up, although with a 300mm lens, I just can't do all that much.

I attempted a multiple exposure shot, which this isn't, only to find that the position of the moon moves just enough each couple of seconds to be noticed in a multiple exposure, when one changes the exposure. Next time, I will have to try bracketing instead.

Enjoy the single exposure shot.

Tonight's night sky was truly impressive as I got home from services. I ducked in and told Mother, I would be back, as I grabbed my tripod and camera, and walked down to the lake for some shots.

I present this and the two moon ones following, as they portray the ambience of the night.

The full moon was so bright, that it actually lit the wisps of clouds floating by. No matter what I tried, I couldn't get the moon's details AND the night sky. It was one or the other. Maybe I can put something together as a HDR. :)

I really did like my walk in the woods near Rosevale, Albert County, New Brunswick, Canada the other day.

Every once in a while a ray of light would penetrate, revealing a spot of colour in all the green. My VR macro lens was in the car, but the lens I had with me was capable of 1:2 macro, if I was stable enough.

I will be happy to credit the identification to the person that does.

Replaced 2008-09-15 with a square crop version of the same photo. Thank you to b.schrade for reminding me that I had forgotten to do that, and really had meant to do so.

The lizards, toads and frogs were behind plexiglass in a controlled environment at the Learning Centre. The conditions really were difficult to shoot as I couldn't use flash at all.

A trip to the zoo must include a visit with the African Lions. Marshall, the male, is 22 years old, while Kito, the female, is only nine years old.

Kito is trying to get a tan on her belly. :)
