Hi guys!! I’ve been dreaming for the past couple of years that this time would finally come. I'm been crazy afraid but I've put my fears aside and I've taken the leap into owning my own photography business.

Am I insanely afraid? ABSOLUTELY!!! But my excitement for the future gets me through those moments of doubts and fear.

We're finally settled in our new home in Virginia. Moving is always tough but for me this move was absolutely worth all the work--we love it here. That's our new house in the background. I've missed flickr so much, now that I'm a little settled I hope to be back on a regular basis

I haven't been here in ages. Been busy moving so I haven't had time to take any pictures. We still aren't quite settled in Charlottesville yet... we're in temporary housing till this Wednesday when we close and move into our new house. The movers are scheduled to bring our stuff on Thursday so I'll be crazy busy getting the house organized. In the meantime, here's a quick picture I took for Devin's new UVA website...

365:236 Reflector

I got a 5 in 1 reflector from amazon and it's the 1st time using it. I shot this with the sun high/behind her and reflected it back onto her face. Not sure I like the look, seems a little harsher than my usual soft images. Will keep experimenting with it though... any tips are always welcome :)

My edit for "Fix It Friday" over at I heart Faces

The edit was done in Lightroom 3:
exposure +1.05
recovery +15
Fill Light +11
Blacks +7
Brightness -13
Highlights -7
and played with the color sliders (exposure & hue) till I got the colors I wanted

They sent her home with a baby tree for Arbor Day and she insisted we plant it in our yard

I have to remind and force myself to take more candid shots of everyday life--these are so tough for me which is why I need to make a conscious effort to shoot more of them. That's what a 365 project is all about, right? growth!!

btw, if you notice the different styles of processing in my pictures lately it's because I'm trying out some new things and making my own presets and actions. Trying to make my post processing life a whole lot easier ;)

Tried out a borrowed 70-200mm 2.8--it was quite heavy & humungous on my tiny XSi but I loved the flexibility of the zoom.
