General note: The Carnegie Library was built on the campus of Florida A&M University in 1908. It was the first Carnegie Library built at a black land-grant college. In 1976, the Southeastern Regional Black Archives Research Center and Museum was founded at the Carnegie Library. The facility was expanded in 2006 and renamed for United States Congresswoman Carrie P. Meek and Dr. James N. Eaton, founder of the Black Archives. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.

General note: Excerpt of original. This film shows a debate between Democratic gubernatorial candidates Haydon Burns of Jacksonville and Robert King High of Miami. Issues of the day are argued in detail. Questions include the propriety of the "Negro Bloc Vote," reapportionment, changing the location of the state Capitol, and whether to make the Florida Department of Commerce Chairman a Cabinet member. The questions are followed by a final volley of accusations about NAACP support as a campaign issue. Kinescope. Part #2 is DA040.
