I've just been messing about with a bit of off camera flash combined with some sparkler action!

As this 366 project nears its end I just wanted to thank everyone for your support, encouragement, inspiration comments and faves over the last 12 months during what has been a very challenging but at the same time incredibly rewarding challenge. I just want to mention a few people who have been on this journey with me this year who without, I think this would have been a much harder challenge than it has been. Big thanks to ~jules~, pikebubbles, Catch-light , ubiquitous_images you have all been a true inspiration and good friends! Thanks guys!

114 days ago I spent 2 hours of my life building this cube out of 192 matches which can be seen here Match Cube 229/366 to photograph for my 366 project. On that day I promised that before the end of this project I would set fire to it and here it is! This was obviously a one shot deal as there was no way I was about to build another if this didn't work! There was obviously a lot of unknowns, where should I light it? how fast would it burn? which direction would it burn? how bright would it be? how high would the flames be? In the end after a few test lighting shots I took the plunge! This is the moment all the match heads on the bottom of the cube combusted causing a cool looking explosion!
I've also posted a couple more shots from the sequence, one at the beginning and one at the end.
