It can be difficult to find a really good spot for a sunset in the Lake District but we managed to get some decent shots over Lake Windermere, between Bowness and the ferry. As usual I took far too many shots and so have included another (slightly earlier one) in the comment.

The Langdale Pikes, viewed beyond Lake Windermere from the viewpoint on the A592 between Troutbeck Bridge and Bowness. There was just a little snow on Saturday - I'm sure it's much more snowy now!

View of these rugged mountain peaks taken from Holehird gardens. I have been up to the top - but quite a few years back now. You might be seeing more views of these distinctive mountains, taken from different spots, as they really do draw the eye!

I hope you don't mind me sharing my moment of glory - but one of my shots has been chosen for the front of a leaflet for Tatton Park. There is no payment (as Tatton is part run by the National Trust) but I have received a years free entry pass to the park, which I will make good use of.

They also used one of my images on the web site, last year. It's on this page - it cycles through some images and mine is the second one, the misty shot of the wooden bridge.

Loughrigg Tarn is one of my favourite places in the Lake District. Though it isn't one of the biggest lakes, the scenery is so beautiful and when the tarn is still, the reflection of the Langdale Pikes is amazing.

A couple of views from Holehird Gardens on Saturday. The car really struggled up the snowy lane to the gardens - after that, we kept to the main road!

Up until last night, there was just a sprinkling of snow in the southern Lake District - enough to make things pretty and sparkly. Last night more snow fell and this was the view we woke up to from our hotel bedroom. You can just about make out Lake Windermere in the centre.

It was tempting to stay longer to get some really snowy pictures but our car was not coping well with the snowy conditions. Though the main roads were largely OK, the minor roads and even car parks led our car to slither alarmingly on even the slightest slope, so we decided it was best to be cautious and head home.
