Pretty cool that they had fireworks at the show! Christie said that place has fireworks all the time. We've never seen fireworks while simultaneously enjoying one of our favorite bands! Wow! So much to take in at once!!

BACKSTORY: A Descendents show??? HELL YEAH! Even if it *is* in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania! This is our first music festival ever! We talked about it beforehand, and remembered back to when we saw Sisters Of Mercy at Philadelphia, and how much of a headache it was to drive all the way up there, and then drive all the way back at 3AM after the concert. So we asked Christie & 808 if we could crash at their place that night, since they live 30min from Philadelphia.

We decided to go up Friday night after work, but it turned out to be a miserable 6-hour drive. We got stuck in 3 traffic jams due to rush hour and multiple accidents. We finally got to the 8's at around 11:30pm, and Ron & Alyssa were still there. We hung out till around 2AM when they left, and then hung out for an hour or so more with the 8's. Good times!

Saturday, 808 had to mow somebody's lawn, so we spent the day with Christie. It was actually a pretty lazy day, but that was fine because we were saving up our energy for the epic concert. We knew Descendents were playing at the Festival Pier, and there was an after-hours show featuring ALL, so we knew we might not get back until after 3AM (turned out to be 4AM). So, we just sat around talking to Christie, eating cake and pasta, and we also threw on Sympathy For Lady Vengeance as background.

We got to the Festival Pier at around 8:30. Dead Milkmen had already started, but we got to see Punk Rock Girl and Bitchin' Camaro. We wandered around the festival, ate burgers, found a cigarette on the ground, and saw Chris Y' punk rock doppelganger.

When Descendents played, it was awesome! There were a LOT of people there, too. It was a great show!

BACKSTORY:

After the Descendents concert at Riot Fest East, there was an after-party concert featuring ALL! Yes, 3 out of 4 of the same band members headed to another venue and did it all again! The second venue was about a mile away from the first venue. According to Google Maps on Carolyn's phone, it would have been an 18-minute walk, but a 5 minute car ride. So we decided to risk the parking situation and drive there. We barely got there in time. It was close to 2 hours to make it that one mile.

When we got there, there was no street parking. We eventually found a spot next to one of those Pod trailers, but when we got out, we noticed there was a temporary sign that said "Temporarily NO STOPPING. Vehicles will be towed" and the dates was 9/24 through 9/26. We did not know what that meant, and we originally thought we'd risk it. When we walked to the main road, there were a couple of cops standing on the corner. Clint asked one of them what "no stopping" meant, and he said, "It's basically 'No parking.' They just want to trick people." Well, that did not put our mind at ease.

We continued to the venue, and asked some dude standing around outside of the venue, and he told us that we shouldn't risk it, because Philadelphia tickets in a heart-beat. He said if you are 1 minute over a 2-hour meter, they will ticket you. So after hemming and hawing, we eventually decided it was probably better not to risk a tow. It'd be absolutely miserable to get out of the concert, only to find out our car was towed. Ugh. So we ran back to our car, pulled out of the spot (and warned a vulture about the parking sign, since our temporary no parking sign, uh, mysteriously disappeared around the time we parked there), and quickly pulled into the closest parking garage. We were in such a rush, that we passed right by the cashier at the garage. Luckily, Clint checked with the exit cashiers, who took care of getting us a ticket so we wouldn't owe $75 for parking in the garage.

The ALL show was great! We got in there right as they were setting up, so we had some time to spare. They started around 1:15 or 1:20am. The setlist was awesome! They chose some good songs.

After the concert, a couple band members were hanging around outside, so we got to meet the guitarist, Stephen Egerton and the singer, Scott Reynolds.

By the way - Clint caught a frog at the Descendents concert, and had it by the car during the ALL concert. He also tried selling it to people after the Descendents show. And ALL played the song "Frog". About catching a frog and trying to sell it. I'm probably the only ALL fan to try to hock a frog in between a Descendents and ALL show, on the same night ALL played the song Frog :) So yea, we named him Oscar after the frog in Frog.

BACKSTORY: Chris gave us some photos with an impossible date of a Thursday night. So we rounded the date forward to Friday. It's still weird that all these people would come over on a Friday the day before we had a party at our house. The date still doesn't make sense.

First time I've seen Slayer in 12 years (2 total). Second time I've seen Megadeth this year (2 total). First time I've seen Anthrax. These 3 bands were some of the first albums (and metal shirts) that I ever owned! What an amazing lineup!

Our second time seeing Scott Ian perform live: He's in S.O.D. as well, and we saw S.O.D. 11 years ago. Thus, I was wearing an S.O.D. shirt for the concert tonight.

The second venue was about a mile away from the first venue. According to Google Maps on Carolyn's phone, it would have been an 18-minute walk, but a 5 minute car ride. After the Descendents concert at Riot Fest East, there was an after-party concert featuring ALL! Yes, 3 out of 4 of the same band members headed to another venue and did it all again! The second venue was about a mile away from the first venue. According to Google Maps on Carolyn's phone, it would have been an 18-minute walk, but a 5 minute car ride. So we decided to risk the parking situation and drive there. We barely got there in time. It was close to 2 hours to make it that one mile.

When we got there, there was no street parking. We eventually found a spot next to one of those Pod trailers, but when we got out, we noticed there was a temporary sign that said "Temporarily NO STOPPING. Vehicles will be towed" and the dates was 9/24 through 9/26. We did not know what that meant, and we originally thought we'd risk it. When we walked to the main road, there were a couple of cops standing on the corner. Clint asked one of them what "no stopping" meant, and he said, "It's basically 'No parking.' They just want to trick people." Well, that did not put our mind at ease.

We continued to the venue, and asked some dude standing around outside of the venue, and he told us that we shouldn't risk it, because Philadelphia tickets in a heart-beat. He said if you are 1 minute over a 2-hour meter, they will ticket you. So after hemming and hawing, we eventually decided it was probably better not to risk a tow. It'd be absolutely miserable to get out of the concert, only to find out our car was towed. Ugh. We eventually found a spot next to one of those Pod trailers, but when we got out, we noticed there was a temporary sign that said "Temporarily NO STOPPING. Vehicles will be towed" and the dates was 9/24 through 9/26. We did not know what that meant, and we originally thought we'd risk it. When we walked to the main road, there were a couple of cops standing on the corner. Clint asked one of them what "no stopping" meant, and he said, "It's basically 'No parking.' They just want to trick people." Well, that did not put our mind at ease.

We continued to the venue, and asked some dude standing around outside of the venue, and he told us that we shouldn't risk it, because Philadelphia tickets in a heart-beat. He said if you are 1 minute over a 2-hour meter, they will ticket you. So after hemming and hawing, we eventually decided it was probably better not to risk a tow. It'd be absolutely miserable to get out of the concert, only to find out our car was towed. Ugh. So we ran back to our car, pulled out of the spot (and warned a vulture about the parking sign, since our temporary no parking sign, uh, mysteriously disappeared around the time we parked there), and quickly pulled into the closest parking garage. We were in such a rush, that we passed right by the cashier at the garage. Luckily, Clint checked with the exit cashiers, who took care of getting us a ticket so we wouldn't owe $75 for parking in the garage.

The ALL show was great! We got in there right as they were setting up, so we had some time to spare. They started around 1:15 or 1:20am. The setlist was awesome! They chose some good songs.

After the concert, a couple band members were hanging around outside, so we got to meet the guitarist, Stephen Egerton and the singer, Scott Reynolds.

By the way - Clint caught a frog at the Descendents concert, and had it by the car during the ALL concert. He also tried selling it to people after the Descendents show. And ALL played the song "Frog". About catching a frog and trying to sell it. I'm probably the only ALL fan to try to hock a frog in between a Descendents and ALL show, on the same night ALL played the song Frog :) So yea, we named him Oscar after the frog in Frog.

Christie's birthday party. About 19 people. 7 SubGeniuses! Made it til 5:30AM but 2 other people were up for a bit more. One of our smallest parties, yet a record-holder for glass smashed and drinks spilled. Clint managed to wedge a beer in the spiral stair railing such that people downstairs simply witnessed a stream of liquid pouring down from the ceiling onto our drums. Some jamming was done -- new bass drum/tom-tom makes our drum 'set' almost complete. Clint ran 6-pool-ball interference on an Air Hockey game. There was a period where we were doing CRAZY things with pool balls that caused balls to fly off into the room multiple times. 6 out of 20 (30%) of people who said Yes on the evite did not bother to come. Two 'maybes' showed up for 10 minutes. 2 'no's came. 2 people not invited tagged along. A lot of people left really early, even though company was over for about 24 hours straight. One puzzling thing was that a lot of the regulars didn't show.
