this fellow was born in 1895 and won the hearts of America with his creative comedic work in films...here is a quick pencil study (from a creative commons photo)...which is about usual for me and my concentration abilities most of the time...

from my Curiousity Chair where these items are amongst afixed items.....
there's the really old Post Office Stamp from the Hollow, the big toe up foot ashtray that is vintage and sold as souveniers in the Phillipines, most likely back in the 40's---also if you rub the big toe it's a good luck wish for you...the old needle case was made by Boye, the old domino has a dragon on the back
and the lemon is one I dried down in a cool cellar till it seems like it's petrified wood...back in 2010...

theme 18..something beginning with letter G and theme 19...something green...here they are combined..I had the Guinea Hens around frequently one summer from a neighbor's "herd"...I loved the oportunity to photo them and watch how they acted...which is likely to be army schouts...

Just watched season 1 of Rosemary and Thyme on DVD...I'd not heard of it before now---what fun it is to be involved with them solving a crime ! This is my interpretation of how a scene feels to me---I just love English mystery ...

Rural Sketchers 2013 No. 17---something you made yourself....."The Ancients Ones.."...loved to make jewelry that I could not see anyplace else...and played with Sculpey a lot---the beads are made with sculpey, stamped and baked with metalic rub ons and added a few old inbetween beads...the string is very strong for necklaces...the center glass bead had me take the necklace apart to insert it as the central point...a gift from someone who appreciated fine work done in glass where the depth is achieved with a beautiful embedded look, so you look "into" it, and are captured by it....I have had lots of comments when wearing this---more so then I'd ever expect.... I have used my colors for this in a creative way---as it really looks like it's made of old stones or pottery when you see it live....

you can see the gulls you have just been able to hear---
the small islands emerge and the fog horns silence... the white
railings match the cottage siding which seems typical
in many areas in Maine...signed with the design
of my name in a wonky manner---often I forget to use it...
in the lower right front is the back rest of a floral patterned veranda...
the light says to me it is getting close to sunset...or it is midday

here I am trying to beat the next week's theme I should get in the email today...not a good week for me---but HAD to get a quick ball point pen and pencil sketch ready this am...I love to do collages and find old photos to use in them...so throughout the years I have quite the collection...a fun project we did once was , each of us were given a bunch of
vintage photos and were to make a story with them to create a book...we had to tie them all into this one work---I absolutely loved doing that..suddenly people in the old photos became part of an imaginary family with all their soap opera lives...this gal might be a visiting cousine who hates comming to visit on a farm away from all her friends ...will she find hapiness before the summer's end?

This is a page in a journal I decided to finally add watercolor to, this Easter am...then when the theme came in the email as "something that makes me think about Spring."..well, this fit it to a t..
The really old fire hydrant by a mill downtown was one I wanted to have in one of my journal pages and the sparrow landed on my front porch fence post...combining them made a page I felt very Spring about---as they are now around looking for nesting
places...the vintage Osmiroid pen I used gave me problems of how the ink didn't flow well at all....ah well, I should have done a practice page first---that'll teach me !

In the early am I took this photo and got a light I'd not seen before nor since...the chairs waiting for summer seemed lonely...and anxious for the good warmer weather to start for the year..I also thought the one with cushions may be where the pet dog likes to climb up to survey his territory...

time my mother asked me what I wanted to be
when I grew up when I was a very small child....
I knew right of and said, “I want to be a Hawaiian...”
she laughed and asked me why, and I said,
“Because they’re happy all the time.”
(I thought they always smiled and danced the hula ....)
I remember this being told to other
people and them laughing at what I said...I never
made it to Hawaii but love the
“idea” of dancing the hula and learning what
all the graceful hand moves mean....

I had never seen this part of the tobacco process before---so one day, over in Tobacco Valley, I followed this tractor with fellow on back, to the barn up the road about a mile...as they turned into the hanging drying barn yard and I drove by, he waved to me...I loved the yellow shirt for a future journal page...I believe the theme is either something you wished you had or hadn't done in your life...with the recent " almost was a goner episode" I just went through and am recouperating from, the smoking part of my life (18 years ago ) spoke to me to do this page. Many of you may have had the same type of things happen...we sure can't "go back" .....I am thrilled to be here ....

with all the meds I on right now my head is not as clear as it has to be---so for the theme of something orange I looked up one of my old designs I did one Christmas as a four tin set of witty fish...for some of my class to do as a Christmas project.. they are in some packed box of goodies in storage, I do believe...I did them in acrylics---this was called Somethings Fishy ,and is in shades of orange
in acrylics..I want to do a fresh page later in the week...

I put this up as it's kind of a cool shot--of place some of my sletches are around...I didn't not get the new theme for this week...was, out of it with exteme throat. cough, lungs problems..I think the meds are making progress...so here I am asking for theme help....notice how the curtains have been open in various ways when the sun quits pouring in...they must have to straighten them all out at the end of the day...

Francis who had multiple sclerosis, always loved
company and was so thrilled with
his nephew bringing the pup to visit...

(Google Downton Abbey for much more info )I decided to get the DVD's from the Library and watch the Downton Abbey first season..I haven't seen any of it before except for one 10 minute period. I sure love it and get very inspired to sketch things when watching DVDs I can pause... the lame valet with his cane, the Abby in the background by massive stone walled gateways...then one of the daughters in a type of hat they all seemed to wear at one time or another...I love the history etc of fashions and the maids' aprons were exquisite...especially for important diners...I'm sure I'm going to want to see season 2 and 3 before I'm finished...

This is how Track Nine Diner by the rail road tracks in Tolland, Ct. looks when you drive in when it's snowing...by the corner window the building juts back and part of a sign can be read....it sure made me smile to see it...and had I the strength to park and walk back and take more photos I would have...
I even liked the way the ploughed snow looked and the Christmasy looking tree boughs lined with snow..going inside to have a breakfast of two of about everything always feels right there....almost like magic..... it never seems to make me go home weighing more, for which I am thankful...must be because I only do it one every blue moon ....
