Various stash acrylics as it was destined to have pva glue smeared all over it (couldn’t bring myself to do that to a decent yarn!)

Such a wonderful little pattern - the flower looks a complete yarny mess as you bind off (hmmm...can you say "bind off" for crochet or just for knitting?!?!) and then once the petals are smoothed out and arranged it looks amazing.

I used a smaller hook and anchor embroidery threads to edge each petal (2 SC in each stitch) and I'm guessing this would look brilliant with the main petals in a charcoal-y yarn.

Flower on the right is the Japanese flower that Lucy has made so popular and crocheted using the pattern that Elizabeth Cat posted on her blog.

Sadly, it just doesn't "do it" for me!

The flower on the left is made from the brilliant pattern found here - rosehip.typepad.com/rose_hip_blog/2007/09/september-blur.....

I'll layer the two to make a big, breezy flower brooch :)
