Who knew moss could be so interesting? Extreme macro using macro lens and Raynox DCR-250 attached.

We have just returned from a weekend in Venice, probably my very favourite city in the world. It was a great opportunity to test my new light-weight camera, the Fuji X-E1. More images will follow when my current college essay is put to bed. Suffice it to say for now that the camera is all I hoped for and more.

Thank you to those who have enquired about my recent absence from Flickr. I am fine, just trying to be disciplined about college work at the moment. If I take five minutes out for photography it quickly becomes five hours! Hope to do some catching up later next month. In the meantime, here's one I prepared earlier. This 40% model of the famous aircraft used to be at the entrance to Heathrow Airport but, with the demise of its full sized brethren, the model was decommissioned. It now stands sentinel at the entrance to Brooklands Museum and Mercedes Benz World in Weybridge, Surrey.

Night photography of bats in flight is difficult indeed - you need some pretty specialised equipment, a lot of skill and experience plus luck. But what if they show up at noon? Not being a bat expert I am guessing this little critter was out stocking up on some last minute protein before hibernating. Anyway, needless to say I had my macro lens on when I glimpsed it, so this is a massive crop and a very lucky catch indeed. Well done mark III.
