in light of not being able to get out for landscapes...i'm trying my hand at portrait shots...something i'm not great at but wouldn't mind learning. luckily my subjects rely on me for a roof over their heads so they can't complain...much :o).

i couldn't resist uploading this one...i finally have a happy baby...all is good. now to just get both girls to be not crying at the same time :o)!

stoked it's the weekend but still need a holiday so i can get away to take some sunsets etc. enjoy the rest of your weekends.

i managed to sneak away this morning and had to go somewhere close. i struggled to find a compo that i liked but managed to mess around with my tripod...i didn't know it could bend that way :o)

sticking with my usual processing traits here...which basically entails processing all the pics i have taken in short succession :o)

this one is another dri of three exposures using masks etc. it's nice to have a bit of blue in the photostream once in a while :o)

hi. to all the kiwi's out there...anyone you know the name of this type of tree? they are definitely my favourite and it bugs me that i don't know what they are :o).

something a bit different to keep things fresh. i soooo need a holiday...but until that happens pics will do.

hi all. i'm still here...barely :o).
things are still so hectic here with life, the baby and everything. i haven't taken any landscape pics whatsoever but i have found solice in my new kindle...did i mention how much i love my kindle? well i do...lots :o). i also have been getting into jim butcher's, the dresden files, i can't seem to stop reading them...among six other books i'm reading simultaneously :o).
oh and the rugby world cup is on...go the all blacks!

anyway this pic is straight out of the camera, which is something that i don't do often. i like the compo in this one and there is something that catches my eye.

miserable and grey and raining outside...girls are asleep though so i've been messing around with this image from a while ago. the colours might be a bit strong but i've been experimenting with colour...isolating, enhancing and ensuring that it is recovered from the raw file.

as for the image, the foreground isn't too interesting but at sunset at this spot the last rays shoot over the top of the hill on the left resulting is some really groovy lighting conditions.

another dri sunset from my new favourite stone fields :o). not a hell of a lot happening in terms of cloud but i still had fun. speaking of fun...if you are a kiwi my note on the hill should be slightly humorous...

i've been messing around with flickr scripts tonight...i do it once in a while to see what all the clever people have been up to...man they make flickr way more fun. let me just say that i still love firefox and greasemonkey...which is not to say that i like setting foxes alight or slippery monkeys...

hi. i had just moved house...set my pc up methodically and turned it on...needless to say it went nova and i have been pc-less since then. well it's finally fixed and man have i been craving processing! (mortal kombat and dragon age helped alleviate the pain somewhat but i have missed photography...big time!).

i thought i would come back with a bit of experimentation in terms of blending. this one is a dri of three exposures one stop apart. i've also been messing around with the final jpg before uploading it. i've found that there is a huge loss of quality when reducing it down to 1200 pixels...definitely needs some sharpening, colour boost etc.

anyway sorry for neglecting all your wicked photos lately but i'm back and will do my best to catch up :o)

here's a touristy shot from my rotorua trip. we had a walk round the wai-o-tapu park and i've posted a pic of the champagne pool previously. we walked the opposite way round on the 3km walk because i wanted to get a pic of this weird green pool (that's the actual colour) without anyone else there. it was a bit hard to find a composition that i liked but i settled for this one as it gives a better sense of scale :o). not that greatest processing i'll admit but it's a good reminder of a trip that happened a month ago and now feels like a lifetime...thanks work :o).

all i'd love to do now is head off for a two month trip in a camper van all over the south island taking pics. not to be though so here is another version of light grenades to stare at quizzically for a while...
also i entered a competition on my local gaming site, to win a 3ds. it involved looking for five easter eggs among 3000 items they had for sale. there was a a clue for each one and it took me an hour...it might be sad that i had fun doing this but damnit i found them all :o)...here's hoping!

i think i'm officially back...taking pics last night really reinforced why i love photography. it wasn't even the best photo session...but i was out ruining another pair of shoes trekking through the ocean/mud etc...fun. what was cool about this spot though was the thousand or so migratory birds that were just to the right of the image. they were all staring out at the sunset to :o)

at least i haven't forgotten how to do it :o)

i've replaced rangitoto with this location lately but hey it's close, beautiful and an awesome walk. so i took my 8mth pregnant wife and 2.5yr daughter for a "walk" with my camera gear last night...i managed to get two shots before the rain arrived but we had a hell of a lot of fun and both girls did well :o).
