“We tend to forget at times that it is the little ones, the children, who do suffer the greatest hurt. If we cannot comprehend why certain sorrows are visited upon us, how on earth can they?” ~ Sharon Kay Penman, The Sunne in Splendour

It has a time of tragedy and blue for me signifies the sadness my heart feels over the mass murders in Connecticut of little innocents and the teachers who loved them. In time the grieving for the lost ones will be tempered by the reality of the suffering of those left behind. I think of the little children in the classrooms who survived and how they will have to deal with this trauma for the rest of their lives no matter how much people are trying 'normalize' their lives. I pray for them all every hour of every day ~ may the love we all share travel to their hearts for a lifetime.

“A farm includes the passion of the farmer's heart, the interest of the farm's customers, the biological activity in the soil, the pleasantness of the air about the farm -- it's everything touching, emanating from, and supplying that piece of landscape. A farm is virtually a living organism. The tragedy of our time is that cultural philosophies and market realities are squeezing life's vitality out of most farms. And that is why the average farmer is now 60 years old. Serfdom just doesn't attract the best and brightest.” ~ Joel Salatin

I have announced 'I am back' here at Flickr yet life keeps pulling me aside demanding attention ~ hopefully it will be more settled in the weeks to come but every day I contemplate finding sweet comments on what I do post to keep my spirits up! Thank you all who have continued to keep me on your contact list, who have encouraged me with notes during my absence, who have kept the flicker of creativity alive in me with your beautiful work. It will be a couple of weeks yet before my office is set up in our new environment so I am entirely working with my phone photographs and my laptop. I am pleased with what I am able to capture with my phone camera and hope you are enjoying them as well ~ it truly is a very exciting aspect of the photography world. Soon, I promise wholeheartedly to be giving you more and more attention ~ I know each and every one of us carries our own share of this world's load ~ you are all so inspirational to me for a varied number of reasons. The friendships cultivated here that last are beyond description ~ sometimes nameless (other than screen names), often faceless (shyness and modesty come to mind) friends who cheer one another on through some of life's toughest battles. You are all to be commended and I mean that sincerely from my heart! This truly is more than a dumping repository for photographic images ~ it is a connection that would never have been made of hearts of like mind. Thank you!! xo

“Our pets are the kids who never leave home, and that's absolutely fine by us because these kids don't ask for the keys to the car, don't turn up drunk at two in the morning, and don't complain if you turn their bedroom into a home gym. Their presence in times of upheaval and transition acts as a touchstone, a reminder of normalcy, of comfort, and the certainty of a love that can get you through.”

Drying the tobacco season ~ a commodity that I detest for all the ill health consequences ~ not glorifying it here just acknowledging that it is a staple in the Amish economy.

We are still in transition but things are getting much calmer and has allowed me some time to shoot more and more with my iphone. Haven't gotten the Canon back out of storage as yet ~ that will be a ways down the road as yet.

Hope to have more and more time to come visit here and see all the wonderful images I have missed.

“I discovered a long time ago that my happiness is not a condition of my circumstances. Rather, happiness is a choice, and I make it every day. While we cannot control the environment of change that is happening all around us, we can control how we respond to it. We can adapt. We can change. And we can still find happiness, no matter how dark the storms are around us.” ~ Art Berg

“I want that perfect ending. But I've learned the hard way, that some stories don't have a clear beginning, middle and end. My life has not been about knowing or figuring everything out. It's been about having to deal with change, about taking a moment and making the best of it, even if I knew I'd have to take a big risk. Life is really about trying to move forward without knowing exactly what is going to happen next.”
