The cliff of historic high-rises, known as the South Michigan Avenue street wall, constitutes the western border of Grant Park. The Art Institute of Chicago and Millennium Park are visible. (Explore)

This photograph will be appearing in "The Plan of Chicago @ 100: 15 Views of Burnham's Legacy for a New Century," a book of essays honoring architect and planner Daniel Burnham. It is being published by the Ely Chapter of Lambda Alpha International. The Chicago History Museum, Art Institute of Chicago, Wisconsin Historical Society, Historic Pullman Foundation and DePaul University have also contributed photographs.

The South Loop at night as seen from the 54th floor of the Aon Center. The tallest building in the shot, One Museum Park (Pappageorge/Haymes) will soon be joined by a building of similar size. They, along with two other planned skyscrapers, will help form the belated south wall of Grant Park. (Explored)
