Well I'm getting closer to that colourful sunset I'm after.
The sky at Birling Gap started getting a little colour tonight but not that overpowering wow.
The tide was out which always makes for great foreground interest leaving nice rocks and water pools to include in your shots.
Luckily I had my wellies on so I could wade into the water and get better compositions.
I had on my Lee 0.6 ND grad to hold back the brightness of the sky and balance the light of the overall picture.
I also dropped my Hoya polariser into the sand and water which was a bummer but I just wrapped it up in a cloth then put it under the tap when I got home and gave it a good clean, hopefully everything will be OK with it.

This was taken on my journey for an amazing sunset at Birling Gap.
Due to the disappointing sunset my daughter stepped in with some of that amazing energy to add a bit of sparkle to my shot.
My daughter jumped into the air for me adding much needed energy, to light her I grabbed my Nikon SB600 flashgun with yongnou trigger and receiver and held it in one hand whilst holding my cable release in the other.
I stood to the side of the camera and then stretched my arm out further to give that side light effect.
My flashgun was set to around 1/4 power.
LightHouse

Tried again for a beautiful sunset last night and once again a failed attempt.
Will keep at it though as I need more sunrises and sunsets in my portfolio of pictures.
This was taken from Cows gap to get level with Beachy Head lighthouse, I was hopeful for some nice colours but it didn't go to plan.
I used the rocks as foreground interest and the gap between the big ones to draw your eye to the lighthouse.
This was a 100 second exposure thanks to my Hitech Pro Stopper and I darkened the sky using my Lee 0.6 ND grad.
My new intervalometer was brilliant for these long exposures being able to change the timing to exact seconds.

I have also updated my blog so feel free to check it out on the link below :)

Went to Birling gap this evening with my family for a walk and some picture taking.
Tried for a nice sunset which didn't really happen but some clever play with the white balance bought out a little colour and warmed the picture up.
Also used my Hoya polariser to try and enhance the colours.
Flickr has made a nasty line appear along the cliff edge which isn't on the original so bit gutted about that.
I also slipped on the rocks and fell into a rock pool lol, oh the pain I go through for photography :)

Had a day trip to London to get some pikkies with my buddy Andrew Brown.
Mainly done Canary Wharf which I will be posting soon but started off with this picture of the O2 arena in Greenwich.
Some of my pictures just don't seem to look right on Flickr, they look a bit harsh or perhaps I'm not using the high pass filter right, I might go back to unsharp mask which was a lot easier.
I used my Hitech Pro Stopper and Lee 0.9 Hard ND Grad to get the long exposure and dramatic sky and used my new intervalometer to time the exposure length.
Had a great day and will be posting more pictures as I process them.

The jetty in Hastings.
A nice low angle with a sweeping curve leading to the fisherman.
I posted this one to show that I took some normal exposures and not all long exposures lol.
I used my Lee 0.9 hard ND grad to hold back the exposure of the sky.
Thank you for all your support helping my last few pictures to get into explore including a number 1 and number 3 position.

Once again trying to take a landscape shot and who decides they must be in it lol, yes you are correct my daughter.
I was taking this shot for my blog which is on there now but as my daughter wanted to get involved I sat her on top of the hay bale and took this one.
As I didn't use flash my daughter was bit dark especially in the face so had to use post processing to lighten her up a bit.

Another one from last nights eastbourne walk but just before it started getting dark.
I set up this shot when two surfboarders where coming past the beacon and I Knew I wanted to get a shot of them either side but I didn't have time to put in my ND Grad and relied on processing power to bring back the detail in the sky, quite pleased with the result.
I used the High pass filter on this shot and my previous shot but not sure if it's doing what I want it to, can't make up my mind if it's too strong with the sharpness.
Will rty it a bit more but play with the settings to see what happens, I might venture back to unsharp mask as it's done me proud up till now.
The only other thing is the beacon is slightly off centre which is annoying as it plays with the perspective of the picture making it look slightly odd.
On a previous picture I took of this beacon I moved it on photoshop to improve things but I don't like doing that really so left it as it was.

This was from a walk a couple of days ago in Ashdown forest, a little part of it calle Old Lodge.
Sometimes they have wild horses or deer walking around but they wasn't there on this occasion.
On part of the walk we walked through this gate ,there were foxgloves along the gate and fence with sun was bursting throught the branches of the tree so I took a few pictures.
The normal picture was little bland so I helped it along with a warm up filter in post processing which I feel has added a nice sunny warmth.
Didn't get out with my camera today as we stayed in to have fibre optic braodband fitted which now gives me a whopping 45mb download and 8mb upload, wow, I suppose I can forgive the engineer on this occasion lol.

After the school sports day today I headed to Firle/Glynde to check out the poppy field.
Very dissapointing as there wasn't that many just little pockets of them scattered along the path edge.
This was taken looking towards cuilfall hill near Glynde and Lewes.
I was really looking for that blanket of flowers to make your eyes pop out so will head back when more have sprouted.

Went for a walk around Arlington Reservoir looking for some wildlife or insects but not much of either unfortunantly, still I managed to grab this long exposure of the walkway and building in the reservoir itself.
An exposure of 95 seoconds smoothed out the constantly moving water but a more dramatic sky would have been the icing on the cake :)
Converted to mono and burned the shadows for extra oomph.
Where The Wild Things Live (Explored)

simon.anderson posted a photo:

I always like to vary my shots on a shoot so here is one using my Hitech Pro Stopper to get a long exposure of 90 seconds which was fantastic seeing as it was so bright out.
I took this from one of the tram lines made by the tractor wheels, it was a bit muddy but luckily I had my wellies on.
I got up close to the edge of the grass to use it as foreground interest knowing that there would be motion due to the long exposure.
Also the long exposure created some very artistic clouds backed by the wonderful blue sky.
For the white balance I used my preset stored in the camera for using with my Hitech Pro Stopper but the grass came out very yellowy so I changed the hue of the Yellow to green which bought back those wonderful colours.
As you can see with some careful changes you can get rid of any cast and bring back the colours which means thumbs up for the Hitech pro Stopper.
I also used my Lee 0.6 ND Grad to balance the exposure between the sky and the foreground as without it the foreground grass would have been very dark, almost black and not very nice.

I chose the title as this picture makes me feel like something is hidden and looking out from the grass, something wild :)

Thankyou Thankyou Thankyou for all your kind messages of support you are all wonderful people.
Hopefully I will get out more again with camera in hand to post more frequent.
I wish to put the past behind me and move forward and to start posting pictures with more upbeat messages again so watch this space.

This is another one from the field in falmer but going more wide angle to squeeze in all those wonderful clouds and foreground grasses.
I used my new polariser again to squeeze out every bit of saturation I could.
Unfortunantly going so wide the colour of the sky was uneven especially as the sun was just to my left making this part of the picture even brighter so on this occasion I had a little help from post processing to try and even things out.
I also added a little extra saturation myself but not sure if I've over done it with the sky.
More to come from this shoot and all different so keep those eyes peeled for me in your contact list.

After my previous picture of the little planet I saw this dramatic sky approaching so took some more traditional landscape shots.
I stood in this spot for about 45 minutes waiting for this cloud to cover the sky and block out the sun.
I focused on the point where the man is now then switched to manual.
For this picture I used my Lee 0.6 Hard ND Grad which done a great job of darkening the looming clouds but I had to use post processing to get them to what they are now, I should have used the Lee 0.9 grad instead which would have meant less processing.
I took loads of these shots with different people walking past in different spots. This was the last picture I took before heading home so uploaded this one.

A trip out with my camera wouldn't be a trip out unless I got a picture with my daughter in lol.
My camera was on my tripod and I went with whatever shutter speed the camera chose for the failing light, this blurred my daughter which has created a very nice effect.
I loved the pink hitting the clouds.
I used unsharp mask for this shot which has given a better quality to the shot, perhaps I'm not using the high pass filter right.

Thankyou for your amazing and supportive messages and comments :)
Went to Seven sisters last night to try and catch the sunset over the windy river but the colours never happened so heres one from the pub car park just before I left to go home aorund 10.30.
The river bank was very dark so I had to focus blind and rely on lady luck.
I upped the warmth in the white balance to add colour to the river bank wall and stairs.
I will be uploading more pictures soon and repeating some from old photo shoots, I normally only post the one to not flood my stream and give people the chance to see the pictures but I have had a change of heart and want to show a lot more instead of them all sitting on my hard drive.

For your information the car parks for seven sisters close at 9pm so park for free in the pub car park just a little further on but don't forget to buy yourself some food and drinks to enjoy the scenery and as a thank you for the free parking.

Not sure if this will be the last from this shoot ?
I zoomed in on the farmers tractor as it was disapearing over the hill and grabbed a shot, Unfortunantly my settings where wrong I had f/16 which gave me an exposure of 1/60th second making this not as sharp as I would have liked.
If I had a few more seconds I would have widened the aperture to around f/8 which would have upped my shutter speed to around 1/250th of a second freezing the tractor on the spot.
This was at the maximum focal length of my zoom at 85mm.
