Water. Color. Fuji X-Pro 1, Voigtlander 15mm f/4.5 Super Wide Heliar.

At a glance, the results I get from shooting with Voigtlander 15mm f/4.5 Super Wide Heliar lens look great. In fact, if you're not looking at 100% of its size, the results can look quite stunning. However, once you zoom into 100%, you can see so much color smearing, it looks like "watercolor" filter effect was used.
Unlike the Sony NEX 5n (or 7n), I feel the VC 15/4.5 lens work better on the Fuji. Most important, I don't see any magenta cast in the corners and edges.
I actually don't see myself using the 15mm super wide heliar lens much since Fuji 18mm/f2 is close enough in focal length and is superior in image quality.

Olympus OM-D E-M5 with Jupiter 8 lens

Olympus OM-D E-M5 with Jupiter 8 (50mm f/2 LTM) lens

I haven't spent much time with the OM-D because I'm still shooting a lot with the Fuji X-Pro 1. My initial reaction—I prefer the OM-D over the Fuji X-Pro 1. Why? Because I always get the shot I want. It's much more responsive. But, who knows. My opinion may change overtime.

One ISSUE with the OM-D is the fan-like noise from the stabilization system. When the camera is on, there's a slight humming noise coming from the camera. It's faint but audible when using OVF (which is great, BTW). Basically, the fan noise maybe an issue for those looking to use the camera for video (using internal mic).

More to come…

@ deCordova; M8, VC Color Skopar 28mm f/3.5 LTM

soelin posted a photo:

I am finding VC 28mm f/3.5 Color Skopar LTM to be a good focal length, small and sturdy lens for small lens cropped sensor digital cameras like the M8 and Nex 5n. One thing I notice about this lens is its tendency to produce warmer colors—for example, it tends to push the slight orange/brown into looking like brick colors. This happens both on the M8 and the Nex 5n. I may have a unique copy of the lens but from what I've seen, I've noticed that on other images on Flickr.

I don't use IR filters when I shoot with the M8. I've given up on the M8 to reproduce accurate colors so I've decided not to spend the money on IR filters. BTW, Nikon V1 does an amazing job reproducing accurate colors—if the V1 had no AA filter and had a larger sensor, it'd be almost perfect for me.

The image quality I get from M8 is very good under ISO 400. I know well enough not to have to use high ISO on the M8. Nikon V1 easily outperforms the M8 in lowlight. Even with the M8's many shortcoming, this is one digital camera that I think will keep for a while because there are currently no affordable alternative for a digital rangefinder without the AA filter. I've tried the GXR, m43, and Nex series—they really cannot give me the true rangefinder experience.

I have had the Voigtlander Super wide heliar 15mm f/4.5 (LTM version) for a while. While it performed well on the M8 and M6, I was limited to shooting it as a point and shoot lens, with f stop around 11. This older LTM version does not bring up the frame lines—though it came with the optical viewfinder, I found it not so accurate to use. Also, on the M8, getting the correct white balance was quite difficult (I wasn't using IR filters but the greens looked quite bad).

This lens, on the Sony NEX 5n, however is a whole different story. In my opinion/experience, the colors and the render I get from this lens is MUCH nicer than any of the Sony E-Mount lenses I have. The colors are rich, I like the contrast, it is quite sharp, but the overall look of the images seem more film-like to me.

Also, I have not experienced strong Magenta cast with this lens—I've shot from f/4.5 to f/16 and I have yet seen any color casting. So far, I really like what this lens can do on the NEX 5n.

More thoughts and result will be posted, soon.

Boston (Waterfront) on Wide Angle lens, Voigtlander Super Wide Heliar LTM 15mm f/4.5 on NEX5-N

Also, I have not experienced any Magenta cast with this lens—I've shot from f/4.5 to f/16 and I have yet seen any color casting. So far, I really like what this lens can do on the NEX 5n.
