You have to read the road sign to understand!

Kearney, Nebraska looking East on I-80 looking at The Great Platte River Road Archway. It became super windy and the clouds were very dark. You can see the trees being blown by the wind on the right side.

That dark area above the Archway is actually dust/dirt being kicked up from the storm. I wanted to get out of there as quick as I could but remembered "Pics or it didn't happen", so I stopped for a quick shot. Was kinda nervous with the semi trucks running by me @ 70MPH as well.

A Nebraska Storm

Well, yesterday was a bit of a bust for me. I knew the brunt of the severe activity would be farther South into Kansas but decided to drive out to Kearney, Nebraska to see what I could get.

This storm moved up pretty quick and had wind gusts up to 60MPH. I pulled off of I-80 just East of Kearney for this quick shot before I continued East back home.

Thinking of headed down to the Kansas City area today.

A fast moving storm passes over the Loup Canal, just East of Columbus, Nebraska. The clouds on the storm really looked menacing as it moved NE.

Shortly after this, I drove back to Omaha hoping to get shots of it moving over the city. I went to set up and my Induro Tripod broke right there along side the highway. I was so ticked!

A couple Sandhill Cranes fly over me just west of Grand Island, Nebraska. Each Spring over 80% of the worlds Sandhill Cranes come through Nebraska.

People from all over the place come to watch the yearly migration. If birds had cameras, would they take photos of us walking?

Peace In Chaos

This is the Cancer Survivors Park near 105th & Pacific in Omaha, Nebraska. I look at this small park as a metaphor on life. It's a small park, and am not sure it's even a full city block. You could easily drive right by it without noticing if you're not looking around.

Behind me is Pacific Street and an apartment complex. To the right is another street with a gas station on the corner. On the left is a restaurant where often times you see employees stepping out the back for a break or to dump garbage into the nearby dumpster.

Something thing I like about this small park is that every time I've visited, there's always a diverse group of people from all walks of life.

I hope you find a moment of peace in your chaotic day. Take time for a walk, and enjoy Spring!

Found this old building in Elkhorn, Nebraska. The setting sun was brining out the window graffiti that was written in the dust.

After this shot, I walked across the street to shoot something else and a portrait photographer took my place and appeared to be shooting a young couple's engagement photos. The couple was wearing white t-shirts and blue jeans, which I thought would be odd for an engagement shot. Maybe I was mistaken though and could have been for something else. During their shoot a guy drove by in a pickup and announced over his PA system that everyone looked good and to smile.

That's life in a small town. . .

Shot this in Elkhorn, Nebraska which is now part of Omaha. It was our first nice spring weekend and I took advantage of the warmer temps and grabbed this shot.

Some people call this Flyover Country, we call it home.

Driving home from work one day as the sun was setting I looked over and thought to myself that I needed to stop and get a shot of this view.

For those of you who haven't been to Omaha what you see in the middle is actually two buildings, one directly behind the other. In front is the Woodmen tower and you see the top of the First National Bank building beyond that.

The City View is an old Apartment building that they fixed up to sell out as condos. Unsure if they sold all of them or not. Let's just say it's not in the best neighborhood.

A plane graciously flew by as I snapped this shot.

This neon church sign has been calling out for me to take a photo for some time, and I finally stopped to do so.

It sits near I-480 and Harney Street and the sign is viewable from the highway.

Rain On The Plains

The set up;

Looking on the radar and saw a small storm cell near Wahoo that was headed NE. I grabbed my gear and headed for Elkhorn.

I parked in a small parking lot (behind me) at a small neglected park. The soccer goal was rusted and without net. I noticed the calm before the storm as I crossed the two lane road and saw a flash of lightning to my left. Shortly thereafter the rumble came. It was long and powerful and lingered for a bit as it rolled across the plains.

Quickly, I setup my tripod and composed the shot as it began to sprinkle. I grabbed a couple shots and as the rain started to come down a little heavier I grabbed just one more shot.

Something caught my eye behind me and to the left. A skateboarder was quickly moving down the hill before the rain hit and a soccer Mom in her minivan was following close behind, afraid to pass. I looked at him as he passed and he smiled. I smiled back.

For a moment, life was good.

This is the VFW in North Bend, Nebraska with the grain elevator in the background. I was driving around the area looking for recent storm damage and stopped here to grab this shot.

I was going to name this "Bird On A Wire", but didn't want any of you straining your eyes looking for the bird.

The Antlers Motel Grand Island, Nebraska. I came across this Gem on Easter Sunday and pulled into the bar next door. I parked my little Kia amongst the 4x4 pickups and walked over for this shot.

Maybe on your next business trip or family vacation you could book a room? The bar is just a short stumbling distance away.

I've been told this once was a bar, and is now abandoned and slowly decaying in Richland, Nebraska.

Richland is the next worn over to the East from my hometown of Columbus. Not much here and never really had any reason to go to Richland when I was living in Columbus. I thought it would be interesting to stop by for a few photos and see what was happening.

I decided to convert this to B&W and play around with the process some. Hope you like it!

Walking around Denver, Colorado looking down between buildings I came across this scene. Strange site seeing a nice car parked at the end of this strange alley.

I'm sure someone somewhere was looking out a window at me and asking themselves why is some guy taking a photo of that nice car sitting at the end of that strange alley.

Mystic Tree

I was across the street and was drawn to this tree near the Omaha airport. I love how the glowing light behind it made the tree stand out.

The fog was so thick that night. I made the mistake of taking the road that goes around and behind the airport. At times it was hard to tell where the edge of the road was.
