The white-yellow flowers of the Plumeria-tree have an intensive sweet flavour. Photographed in Sri Lanka 10/2011 during a storm with alternating rain and sun, so beautiful light.The common name "Frangipani" comes from an Italian noble family, a sixteenth-century marquess who invented a plumeria-scented perfume. Many English speakers also simply use the generic name "plumeria". In Hawaii, the name is "melia". In Sri Lanka, it is referred to as araliya and (in English) as the Temple Tree. In Sri Lankan tradition, Plumeria is associated with worship.

Portrait of a man somewhere in Ladakh, India (Himalaya). The rough climate is marked in his face. I think that he is younger than 50 years but I don´t know. The life expectancy in Ladakh is around 60 years.

Portraitaufnahme von einem Mann irgendwo in Ladakh, Indien. Das Klima im Himalaya ist rau. Ich glaube, dass er nicht älter als 50 ist, aber ich weiß es nicht. Die Lebenserwartung liegt in Ladakh bei etwa 60 Jahren.

Das fliegende Zebra: Aufgenommen auf der Insel Mainau im Bodensee. Dort gibt es ein Schmetterlingshaus, was megaklasse ist. Übrigens: Wenn Du Dir den Schmetterling in groß anschaust, dann siehst Du die blauen Augen.

Ocean of flowers - Das Blumenmeer

That is like an ocean of flowers. Photographed in Bavaria, Germany, not far from Lake Constance. In the grassland you see ways with different colour gradients. Summer will come soon!
It is a little bit Monet in that picture. I think it was too much colour and too much flowers for my camera ;-)

Ein Blumenmeer, aufgenommen im Allgäu (Pfarralp in der Nähe von Lindau am Bodensee). In der Blumenwiese zeichnen sich Wege mit den unterschiedllichen Farbverläufen ab. Es wird Sommer, wie schön!
Es erinnert mich ein bisschen an Monet. Für meine Kamera waren es vielleicht zu viele Blumen und Farben ;-)

Grün - Braun - Weiß. Das sind alle Farben, die dieses Foto braucht. Ich habe das Chamäleon und den Mann in Kenia fotografiert. Übrigens hatte ich das Chameloen nach dem Foto auch in meinen Händen sitzen. Das sind wunderschöne Tiere. Fantastische Natur!

I have photographed someone on the beach in Kenya. At least two times a day he rides with his bicycle along the beach.

Ich habe irgendjemand am Strand von Kenia auf seinem Fahrrad fotografiert. Mindestens zweimal am Tag kam der Mann den Strand entlang geradelt.

Jai Ho - Slumdog Millionaire

I saw the Hollywood-Oscar-show with the beautiful indian children winning a Oscar for "Slumdog Millionaire". For the beautiful actors of that film it seems to be the reality is changing in a dream because all the actors are coming from the slums of Bombay. And now in the slums of india a lot of people are singing "Jai Ho!", the hymn of the film. It means something like "let victory come".
I have photographed the two boys in Delhi by leaving a bus. I don´t like it to make pictures from above but I think it is one of the messages of the photo: degrading and arrogant in one. If I saw the Oscar-Show I remembered me of that scene and the two boys in India and I searched in my photos. "Jai ho!"

"Slumdog Millionaire" ist der große Abräumer der Oscar-Gala: Acht Oscars hat der Film bekommen. Der Jubel war groß - vor allem in den Elendsvierteln von Bombay. Dort feierten Familien und Freunde ihre "Superstars" des Slums. Denn die Kinder, die im Film die Hauptrollen spielen, kommen wirklich aus den Slums.
"Slumdog Millionaire" ist ein modernes Sozialmärchen und manchmal verwandeln sich Märchen in die Wirklichkeit, zumindest für die Kinderdarsteller des Films. Sie schafften den unvorstellbaren Sprung raus aus dem Armutsviertel in Bombay auf den roten Teppich in die Traumfabrik nach Hollywood.

"Jai Ho!" ist die Hymne des Filmes, was soviel heißt wie "Du wirst es schaffen!"
Das Foto oben habe ich in einem Slum in Delhi aufgenommen. Ich steige gerade aus einem Bus, daher wirkt das Foto für mich so ausdrucksstark zwischen überheblich und erniedrigend, je nach Sichtweise. Ich habe direkt bei den Szenen im TV zu "Slumdog Millionaire" an diese Szene hier gedacht und das Foto ausgegraben. "Jai ho!"

The white-yellow flowers of the Plumeria obtusa-tree have an intensive sweet flavour. Photographed in Sri Lanka.

Die weiß-gelben Blüten des Frangipani-Baumes verströmen einen intensiven, süßlichen und sehr angenehmen Duft. Aufgenommen in Sri Lanka. Die Blüte liegt auf einem Marmor-Tisch, daher die, wie ich finde, wunderschönen Lichtreflektionen. Ein bisschen spiegeln sich die Bäume im Tisch, das gibt dem Hintergrund noch einen grünlichen Schimmer. Ach, ja: Den Tisch habe ich -extra für das Foto- vorher mit Sagrotan gereinigt, vielleicht hat das den Glanz erhöht.
