Today I stumbled upon this gentleman here...he sat there so naturally allowing the pigeons to eat from his hand...
It made me think of an earlier photo I made......This one

This is actually the retinue of "the bride to be" I've uploaded yesterday ..
I was intrigued by the golden hats they wore ... with the sun reflecting on them, it looked like a sea of hats ....

Once taken, the effect of the sea became a little less .. but I think it's still a nice picture :-)

On 10 May 1940, Nazi Germany invaded the Netherlands. Queen Wilhelmina had wanted to stay in the Netherlands: she had planned to go to the southern province of Zeeland with her troops in order to coordinate further resistance from the town of Breskens and remain there until help arrived, much as King Albert I of Belgium had done during World War I.

She fled The Hague, and she boarded HMS Hereward, a British destroyer which was to take her south
however, after she was aboard, Zeeland came under heavy attack from the Luftwaffe and it was considered too dangerous to return.

Wilhelmina was then left with no option but to accept George VI's offer of refuge. She retreated to Britain, planning to return as soon as possible. Holland was liberated from the Nazis on 5th of May 1945

This is a fellow I bumped up to a few days ago in de Kalverstraat. A very busy shopping street in Amsterdam. Really don't know why he was standing there..

Sometimes it happens when I'm taking a photo suddenly somebody else shows up right in front of my lens...here the same thing happend www.flickr.com/photos/iwanl/4986421457/in/photostream

They both are these: "still good looking older men" maybe they know they are :-))
Like in this case I was not planning at all to shoot him but the other people behind him....Anyway in both cases it still worked out quite fine I think :-)

Today I changed my name.
Every time I googled my name I got pages full of flickr hits...
