Sunset on the Chao Phraya

I had to cut short my visit to Wat Chalermprakait so I could catch the last boat down river. This meant I would miss the sunset and twilight at the temple and park. Lord I wish I could have still been there when I saw this. I would have prefered a temple backdrop or something... anything but a bunch of condo's and houses on the shore. It did make for a spectacular boat ride though.
This is not the sunset, well it is really...sort of, but what I was trying to say is this is on the opposite side of the river from the sunset. This storm cloud was getting it's fair share of brilliance on it's sun facing side. The sunset was actually to my right and behind me when I took this shot.
Another misery was the need for super high ISO just to get it. At least my camera isn't a point and shoot. I was able to remove a large amount of the noise. A little layer masking brought back some lighting on the shoreline and buildings. Other than that.. it's a photo, not an HDR.
Shot was taken from the public transport boat at speed. You can see the wake in the foreground.

When I arrived at the "In Love" restaurant just north of the Rama 8 bridge, I was pretty disappointed. I was running late and the sun was virtually gone on a cloudy horizon. I almost didn't even break out the tripod, but experience gave way to doubt and I set up. I couple minutes later I was rewarded as the sun somehow managed to break through the storm clouds for a last blast into the twilight. Lightning could be seen in the clouds but it was too faint to catch with the camera.

Photo taken during the Scott Kelby 2009 Photo Walk. Our group walked Lumpini Park in Bangkok Thailand and ended at Silom Complex. This was taken at the South West entrance to the park just as sunset was nearly finished. A last blast of sunlight crept in behind the towers on the left which made this rather interesting.

Photo is an HDR (-2 0 +2)
Heavily mixed back into the original images (including additional software rendered exposure levels) to help with clarity, lighting, and remove ghosts. Some motion blur remains in moving subjects.
