I haven't uploaded anything to Flickr for over a year now. I haven't used this site regularly since my senior year of high school, and now I am in the second semester of my sophomore year at college. I've decided to start using Flickr again to organize my photos and to get them out of their hiding place on my hard drive. I plan to post most of my work on my photo blog, so please follow that if you are so inclined.

This photo is a self-portrait I shot in December 2012 as part of my final project for my digital photography class. (Unfortunately my university doesn't offer a photo major -- there are only 2 photo classes at all -- so I am majoring in art history). Among many other ideas and motives, this photo is about asserting control and confronting the camera -- something new for me in self-portraiture. Sophomore year has a great period of development for me in my art, my goals, and my academics. I am exploring new concepts and learning new techniques in my photography, and I am being challenged and encouraged by my incredible professors. I want to continue these developments through the spring semester and through the rest of 2013.
