When I turned around the corner, I saw this man walking there with his bag full of groceries. Immediately, I had this exact picture in mind and it worked out exactly as planned.

A close-up of the new apron. Only stand A15 (upper right corner) is ready, the other stands will need about 2 more weeks before they will reach maximum strength. It's at that point when the new taxi lines etc. will be placed on A11-A14.

Tomorrow, the airport will open again after being closed for 2 weeks due to the runway extension and construction of the new apron/taxiways. The final touch is getting put on the apron markings, barriers and runway/taxiway lights.

We are now on day 6 of the 2-week closure of the airport. Things are progressing in a very fast pace and if you are off for a day or 2, you won't recognize it anymore. The apron almost has its final shape and new taxiways (on the left side of the photo) are being paved aswell.

Work on the main runway is still in full swing and it already has 2 layers of asphalt on it. This Thursday, the new top layer will be added and after that, the ILS will be calibrated by the NLR with their C550 or SW4. Note runway being surrounded by light poles on both sides. At dark, you'd almost think you're driving on a 6-lane highway!

As always, 3000px wide!

KLM7472 came in from Paris Orly again for a post-maintenance testflight and the plan was to make a low approach. Now I've seen my fair share of low approaches by now and that includes an actual touch & go, but this one left me breathless again. I was tracking it through the viewfinder and was sure it would touch, but it didn't! There were only a few cm's left between the lowest wheel and the runway. It was also the first time they rocked their wings during the climb out, which was really cool to see! Thanks guys!!

The layout is getting more and more obvious and it's pretty cool to see how the final result will work out. Unfortunately, all construction is halted for this week, due to the winter setting in again (below 0 temperatures/frost in the ground).

However, before the weather changed, they managed to finish a couple more blocks of concrete for the new apron, the first layer of asphalt on the new taxiway A and the extended part of the runway (not visible in this photo).

So, they've started to pour the concrete in! It's starting to look better and better each day, the next panorama will come when most of the concrete is in.

Sorry for the late update, it's been busy! In the mean time, construction has been halted for 2 weeks due to the frost, but thankfully they could resume a week or 2 ago.

the lay-out is becoming very visible and we just have to wait for some warmer weather before we can start pouring the concrete in on the apron (we need about +4 degrees Celsius for that and last night for example was -3). However, things are progressing very fast and we are finally able to make sense out of the complete mess of a month or 2 ago.

The airport will close from April 10-24 and the contractor will work 24/7 during that period, connecting the runway extension with the present runway and also removing and adding a new top layer on the runway (+some other stuff like connecting the taxiways, etc.).

Like the previous panoramic photos, this one is also visible in 3000px wide!
