Well, it's been a while. I've had a tough couple of months, and didn't feel much like posting. But I've been trying to get back into the swing of things and get out there some more. I've hit a few sunrises and sunsets...and always manage to miss the epic ones. But I'll keep trying. It's just been nice to get out. And I wanted to especially thank my photog friends of Seattle, Hai, Dene', Aaron, Lisa, David, and Vinny. You guys have been great.

This was another sunset that didn't quite pan out like I'd hoped, but nice all the same. I hope you enjoy it. And I hope you all had a great holidays and start to the new year!

Here's another one from my night up at Mount Rainier. It wouldn't be complete without the sunrise photo from the morning after my car camping/star shooting adventure.

Well, I'm off to Taiwan. My flight leaves at 2 am and I'll be gone for a couple of weeks, meeting more of Amy's extended family and just relaxing and exploring and trying some crazy new foods. Oh and celebrating my birthday on the 1st! As always, if you feel the need to send gifts, I prefer cash and expensive things. ;)

I apologize for the post and run (or fly), but I need to finish packing! Take care everyone and I'll see you again soon, hopefully with some new and interesting photos.

Starry Night

Here's another one from my car-camping night up at Sunrise. After Aaron and Dene' left, I ventured down the mountain to the little town of Green Water for a bite and a beer at the Naches Tavern. Got back up to the top at around 11 and went out for some star photography.

Now, you hardcore folks will probably laugh at me, but it was kind of spooky being out there all alone. It was SUPER dark, with no moon that night, and I kept hearing sounds, half expecting a bear to come up and make me his midnight snack. Even spookier was when I heard what I thought was a little girl crying...until I realized it was just me. I may have wet myself once or twice that night too...

But I digress. This was my first attempt at star photography, and it took me a while to get the hang of it. Didn't get any that I really liked, but thought this one with the bare trees was pretty cool. And I think next time will be much more successful, now that I have a clue. And there will be a next time...it's very addicting!

Sunset at Sunrise

I'm skipping past a bunch of photos I like that I shot with Dene' at Seiku and with Pierrick around Seattle to get to these. But who really cares about chronological order? The fact that I even mention it shows just how OCD I am. :)

As I mentioned on an earlier post, I went up to Sunrise to shoot Mount Rainier one night the other weekend. I met up with Dene' and Aaron and shot the sunset. It was great to get out with them because it had been way too long (excluding that one morning in Seiku with Dene'). And then after they went home, the hard-core folks (me) did a bit of car-camping and shot the stars. More on that later, but it was a definite learning experience, and I finally got the hang of it by about 1:30 am. So next time they hopefully won't suck. I'll post one later anyway. :) Then up at 5:30 am for sunrise. I'm shooting away and up walks David, who I hadn't seen in months and was a lot of fun to catch up with too.

So, I've decided that the next time it has been too long and I want to meet up with some photographers, I'll just sleep on a mountain, and they'll come to me. :)

Oh, and I have to give all credit to Aaron for finding this spot. I just shamelessly comp-stomped him....but when you need a comp, he's not a bad one to stomp.

Just a random waterfront shot taken a while back. Rainier makes it more interesting, but it isn't anything too amazing. Just wanted to get something up because it has been too long. I'm planning to get out and shoot some mountainous stuff soon, so hopefully I'll have some more stuff to share then. Hope you are all well.

Okay, so this is kind of late for Valentine's Day, and maybe that's more of an orange than a pink, but whatever. :) Taken a couple of weeks ago up at Kerry Park. I realize that I've been shooting and posting a ton of Seattle shots lately, but with sunset so early, it is the only really accessible thing to shoot for a sunset. I hope to get out of the city soon. And the Mexico shots will be coming up soon too.

I'm very slowly catching up on flickr. I hope to actually be caught up by tonight, but we shall see....

I thought I'd give you a bit wider view of yesterday's photo. Again, this is Neahkahnie, where Neahkahnie mountain meets the Pacific Ocean. Those rocks that are furthest out are the ones I was zoomed in on. I figured you could appreciate this amazing place a bit more from this view. :) I'll show you the other side one of these days, though that seemed to be the misty side, so it will take a fair amount of cleaning up.

A little bit of epic sky for you all today. Taken the same day as this. Certainly not today...today is gray and snowy. Can't wait to see something like this again.

Speaking of snow, I got stuck at Amy's last night because of it (I hate my Prius), so I haven't been able to flickr at all since. Gotta run again now, but I'll try to catch up with everyone tonight.

Another shot of Mount Adams, as seen from Mount Rainier, at the very start of sunset. Why did I keep shooting the wrong mountain, you ask? Because Rainier was completely socked in by clouds, but the view to the south was nice and clear.

Here's another shot from my trip to Mount Rainier this summer. The wild flowers weren't in peak yet, but here's one where they decided to show off, with Mount Adams in the distance. Mount Rainier was sadly still covered in clouds at this point.

Autumnal Bliss

Thanks to another tip from Aaron Reed (man, I'm gonna start owing him for all these tips...), I made my way over Stevens Pass to Leavenworth on Sunday. I was a bit unsure on my way up the mountain, because it was absolutely pouring, but I was determined to see some good fall color. Luckily, as soon as I crossed the pass into blessed E-WA, it cleared up, and was quite pleasant. And wow, what colors there were! This shot was from one of the little offshoots of the main river, a tranquil little place with a ton of color. I'll put up some more raging river type shots throughout the week.

I have mixed feeling about ths shot, actually. The colors and reflections were great, but I don't like the crap on the left. I tried cropping it more, but it made the image seem unbalanced. Any suggestions?

Another shot from that amazing sunset I caught while I was up at Rainier this past summer. This one is much more zoomed in to show off the moon, though you don't see the range of colors that the others had. But I liked the deep red background for this.

This was taken a little before my previous photo from Reflection Lake. The sun was just peeking over the mountains, highlighting the clouds as they lifted off of Rainier. Meanwhile, deer were wandering up to the lake for their evening drink, as I snapped away.

I would have called it a perfect moment, if it weren't for the mosquitoes...
