Nesting Cormorants.

These birds form a large colony and live all year round in the Pohutukawa Trees (NZ natives) - Te Puna, Tauranga, NZ. The Pohutukawa is commonly known as the NZ Christmas tree and is a ablaze with red flowers around the northern coastal regions of NZ at this time of the year.

I am amazed at the growth in these thrush chicks in just three days from my last photo when the chicks had just hatched from their eggs.

Earlier I photographed this thrush nest with three speckled blue eggs. The third egg seems to have disappeared or perhaps it is still to hatch underneath these two. (Please note that the parents returned to this nest immediately after I had taken this photo.) I have not had anyone who has not turned away in horror at he sight of these wee babies. This is sad because birds evolve into the most beautiful things on Gods earth! We as newborns are not much prettier - only to our parents!

A series of photos taken in McLarens Falls Park - a short distance from Tauranga - in the north Island of NZ. Always beautiful, regardless of the season and an absolute must to visit for anyone new to the area! The park covers a large area, contains a multitude of varitiesof mature trees as well as roads, walking tracks - and trout fishing in lake McLaren!
