Up Close. IT is a WWII battlement of some kind. Info on the web was mostly in French. Maybe it's my imagination but it reminds me of a 70's concept album artwork or something that Pink Floyd might have used in the early 80's.

Not Paris, but Normandy. A few km to the West of Dieppe lies the Alabaster coast, so called because of the chalky cliffs. The object in the distance looked like some kind of monolith and deserved closer inspection. I colour processed the image as the original was washed out and lacking in contrast (probably overdone it!)

Not back to the Paris shots just yet..

A Sparrow Hawk made a kill and landed in a neighbours tree to eat it. A few days later there were feathers all over the back lawn.. another kill, this time in our garden. Just recently I disturbed one in the front garden, it had a Wood Pigeon in its talons.. still alive. It flew out of the tree but only made it to the pavement across the road. a few minutes passed and the pigeon stopped moving. The hawk it flew off when someone came along walking their dog but it left the prey behind. At this point I ran onto the house to get the zoom lens and waited.. the hawk sitting on the roof of the house opposite. I missed getting a shot of it as it came in so quickly and was gone across the treetops before I had chance to get the camera focused!

I had to murder this shot in post as it was taken at quite some distance and I don't have the gear for wildlife photography.. as I found out.

This was taken outside the Catacombs in Paris in late 2011. I thoroughly recommend the Catacombs, bizzare and ghoulish but enjoyable.

I was goint to upload this image with some blurb about work/life and not feeling shackled.

On further reflection I'd like to dedicate it to our sense of security implied by being governed by a small number of individuals who control our nations.

Are they really smarter than the rest of us and therfore worthy of weilding such power? Do you yourself feel that you actually need someone else to make decsions for you?

I ponder these questions as I watch those in 'power' apparently struggling to understand things which are self evident to a child.

If you haven't yet done so, I leave you to ponder. If you've pondered already I leave you this question.. what is to be done?
