Week 19/52 "Somewhere New"

Gassed up the truck, called on my good buddy Kyle, and hit the road with a Western destination in mind. Its amazing where a two hour drive can take you. We ended up in pretty much the most North Western point of Massachusetts, at the foot of Mount Greylock. With a couple hours to spare before sunset, we threw on our hiking packs and began the ascent towards one of the many available vistas on the mountain. Hit the location just as the sun was setting over the distant hills and stood back and let the cameras capture the magic. Needless to say, I will definitely be back to visit this place :)

Had grand ideas for this week.... Went out and about early in the week to get some practice in. Had no boom to use, so I chose a cliff. Didn't have 8 hours to dedicate to shooting 50+ photos, so I settled for 2.5 hours instead and close to 25 shots....Thought I'd catch a nice sunset too, but missed that by about 20 minutes hahaha.

Tried like crazy all week long to get something else, but busy work week + craptastic weather = going with my first shots. Pretty happy with the end results minus all the pizzazz that I wanted to have included.... oh well :)

Week 17 of 52
"Friends Emulating Animals in the Great Outdoors"

A Chimp or Chimpanzee is one of the 4 types of world’s great apes including bonobos, orang-utans, and gorillas. Chimpanzees are commonly found inhabiting in the rainforests, grasslands, and woodlands of Central and West Africa.

When making a distinction between a monkey and a chimpanzee, you have to know that Chimpanzees do not have tails while monkeys do. Chimpanzee also has opposable thumbs as well as toes which helps it to grasp any object so easily. When it comes to diet, chimpanzees are omnivorous by nature and mainly consisting of plants, fruits, eggs, meat, and insects.

Chimpanzees possess the ability to work with tools. To get food, they poke on twigs and grass stems to get into the nest of ants or termites infesting on these things. They also are able to break even the hard nut shells by just using jagged stones.

Similar to humans, chimpanzees likewise use branches and sticks as clubs to swat away or throw them towards their enemies.

Even though chimpanzees spend a lot of their time on ground during the day, they are both terrestrial and arboreal.
Not the biggest fan of commercial product photography. Never really found anything appealing about it even tho I've witnessed some excellent light work and creativity, it's just not my cup of tea. I was super upset when I couldn't find an actual can of Turtle Wax and had to settle for this rubbing compound and then was even more let down when my model ate it's top hat and then pooped on my nice clean setup :(
Didn't travel too far outta the box on this one. I love spinning orbs and this evening, the sky was a crazy color, just before it opened up and started pouring on me. boosted the saturation in the sky a touch and desaturated the orb colors as the white lights showed up a bit too blue. Glad its getting warmer out because I love doing this type of shooting and am excited to get out and do some more~

Went for a late night hike with a couple peeps up a very very
icy trail. It made for a slow ascend but once we reached the summit the light polluted overcast sky was a treat to our eyes. Set up a 220 lumen torch behind the tree to get the back light and hit the foreground rocks quickly with my headlamp to bring out some details. All in all it was a great hike and I'm happy enough with the photo I walked away with~
~Shoot an environmental portrait using one artificial light source not found within the scene.~

Got my cousin Jason to play around with his blacksmith setup and tried my best to balance the already existing light of the furnace and my flash, while trying to catch some motion of his swing, and the resulting sparks. Pretty amazing what one can do when they heat up a railroad spike and start wailing away at it with a hammer.... the session got a bit rushed towards the end, but I'm pretty sure I got a one of a kind bottle opener coming my way~
~Shoot an environmental portrait using one artificial light source not found within the scene.~
