First trip to this part of the world for me and yes it is that red. In fact everything was red and dusty (including my trainers). The outback, or in particular the area surrounding Uluru (Ayers Rock) isn't as barren as I thought it would be. Yes it is pretty flat with the exception of the occasional Canyon or monolith but what I didn't realise was how many trees and plants there would be for somewhere so dry.

Mona Vale rock pool.

With high tides and a massive swell this rock pool, perched on the edge of Mona Vale beach was engulfed by the ocean. You could tell this evening was special, spectators would come to watch the waves rolling in before retreating to the warmth of their car.

This is my first release taken with the new Canon 5dMkIII, I hope you like it.

I had to be careful whilst taking this one, had a miniature shark swimming only inches from my feet. A fisherman had just released it, thankfully it was only about a foot in length.

After a week of rain over the Sydney area what better place to shoot than the numerous hidden waterfalls of Blue Mountains National Park. Oakland Falls is unique in that you can walk in behind the waterfall and out the other side.

With all of the rain Sydney has had I headed up to the Blue Mountains to shoot its hidden waterfalls. This one at Hazelbrook was definitely the most impressive.

The trip introduced me to the delightful leech. I came away with three on my legs and another three on my bag/jacket. I didn't notice them until the got nice and fat on my blood.

After a full day of teaching Photoshop I managed to sneak in a trip to Stockton sand dunes before heading back to Sydney. What an amazing place, I just couldn't get over how spectacular it was (even though I have been before). This place is reason enough for me to buy a 4WD.

Thanks to Kiall Frost and Trevor Tutt for taking me out there and of course the Newcastle Sundance team for letting me come up there.

I finally got out for a spot of photography on Sunday. I've been waiting for great clouds to coincide with my spare time for ages...it finally happened.

Far North Turimetta was inaccessible due to the big swells Sydney has had over the last few weeks so I decided to stay 'safe' and 'dry' on the beach.

Glad to be back in action and looking forward to the next outing.

After a mammoth 17 hours trekking the canyons I was slightly disappointed to only come away with two images (this being the first). However I do absolutely love them both! If it was easy to photograph this location they might not be so dear to me.

This is a blend of two images to capture the high dynamic range of the scene.

Trying something a bit different with this one, what you are looking at is a pano of the same location transitioning from sunset on the right to night time on the left. The full moon was a great addition casting light over the headland, creating shadows and highlights across the scene. I hope it works, let me know what you think.

Old Man of Storr, Isle of Skye, Scotland.

An early morning hike in the dark through forest and up to this hill side, at a location I had never set eyes on made for an interesting and well worth adventure. As sun peak through the clouds to the East there truly is no better way to start the day. Being in such locations on your own is humbling and one thing I love about photography. If only I could photograph such beautiful landscapes all of the time.

A low tide at North Curl Curl allowed me to venture to the exposed rock shelf past the rockpool and further North to the otherwise hard to access and dangerous areas. A long exposure create drama in the sky blurring the fast moving clouds.

The amazing Turimetta, Sydney. The beach where landscape photographers rejoice and put their tripod legs where others once were before....well hopefully not always. At high tide compositions were somewhat limited, I always seem to gravitate to this spot though, just love the shapes and run off.
