I'm sure someone must have released an album with that title back in the 80s. Maybe I'll reconsider it here.

This is a picture from back in the summer. A previous processing attempt was unsuccessful. Not many pictures this year, but I have been learning, and there has been a load that will never show up here. Much inspiration gathered from the multitude of landscape photographers working hard in England as there doesn't seem to be either Canadian scene at all (not in the same way at the very least).

Again, this will be a good scene to revisit sometime.

This river near Clarenville was likely to become one of favourite shooting locations until much of it was ruined when Hurricane Igor visited Newfoundland in 2010. Still, the scene from this vantage point still pleases me, I expect to revisit it soon. Another photo I took this past January, featuring snow, is a favourite of mine, so I'd like to give a similar picture the benefit of my new stitching technique.

Did Flickr change something in the way it handles uploaded images? This is as pleased as I've been with the way my stuff looks here. Sure doesn't make much of a thumbnail, though.

The towers in question are communication towers atop a hill outside of Clarenville, as I use access roads for -- you guessed it -- access into the country.

Created using a Canon 40D + my 17-40 f4 + stitching software as part of investigations to make the most of my equipment. The original 42 megapixels have a great crunch of detail. This particular image was taken/compiled in order to test the 40D's live view capabilities for pre-viz and focussing. The combination lacks the subtlety of my 5D + 50mm, but it sure is easier to work with!

I must enjoy making work for myself. Still, things look promising.

More photos soon. Despite there having been so few new offerings in this photostream as of late, I have been hard at work trying to deal with various failings in my means and approach. Right off the top, My new professional-grade monitor will certainly lend greater confidence to my judgements, and my X-rite Colorchecker won't hurt with its customized camera profiles either.

This has not been a prolific photostream lately. All of this past winter has so far added up to three images. Everything I've been doing has required revision after revision. As I write this, a new upload of Approaching Dusk is sure to follow. Ironically perhaps, I want it just as fresh and apparently unlaboured as the last two images I uploaded.

This isn't the lengthy exposure that it might seem at first sight, rather it's a multiple exposure combined in Photoshop from four different shots. I wonder how twenty shots might look, superimposed?

Much was learned trying to make something/anything of a poor exposure.

January in Newfoundland offers pretty good photo-weather. -4 degrees Celsius ain't bad, though I was probably putting a little too much trust in the ice on the pond I was walking around on that day.

Greater saturation via greater contrast is where I'm at right now. I wish I could spend the whole summer in the woods looking for pictures like this one, but I'm preparing for a wedding I'm photographing next week.

This appears quite harsh on my LCD, but not so bad on my CRT, where I actually authored it. I've been questioning the effectiveness of my monitors. Does anyone else out there perceive the darker parts of this image as simply being much too dense?

July 6: A new version with added detail in the shadows. I wonder is there any more I can do for this.

They seemed the perfect family unit. What I suppose was the gander was standing guard while the mother and goslings foraged after whatever it is geese forage after.
