There are countless ancestral homes found all around Bohol. Some of them are aged centuries-old, back to the days of the Spanish regime. The Clarin Ancestral House is one of those Spanish-style old homes that were duly preserved to pose as tourist spots for the present generation to see and explore.

The Clarin Ancestral House was built in 1840s. It is situated in Laoay, a municipality that is about 18 kilometers away from the provincial capital, Tagbilaran City. It was primarily owned by a former Bohol governor by the name Don Aniceto Velez Clarin. Don Aniceto’s family has a very rich background in politics. His son, in fact, won the seat on the 11th Senatorial district. Their descendants followed through, becoming mayors, governors, and whatnots.

Misamis Oriental is a province of the Philippines located in the Northern Mindanao region. Its capital and provincial center is Cagayan de Oro City. The province borders Lanao del Norte and Bukidnon to the south, the Agusan del Norte and Agusan del Sur to the east, and to the north is Bohol Sea with the island-province of Camiguin just off its northern shore.

Misamis Oriental is the gateway to Mindanao, the second largest island in the Philippine archipelago. As the melting hub of the island, Misamis Oriental is expectedly the most economically blessed province in Mindanao. But it also has its share of natural bounties. This website intends to explicitly describe to the visitor the natural beauties that can be found in Misamis Oriental.

There is the refreshing Talabaan Falls in Naawan, fantastic Agutayan White Island in Jasaan, nature-sculptured landscape and seascape of Initao National Park, scenic Duka Bay Beach Resort in Medina, Alibuag Cold Spring, Mantangale Diving Resort, well-maintained Manti-anak Tree Park in Sugbongcogon, a breathtaking canopy walk in Claveria, awe-inspiring Sagpulon Falls in Jasaan and a centuries-old church in Jasaan.

Aside from those, Misamis Oriental boasts of 33 fine gray sand beaches, 17 white beaches, 18 springs, 14 falls, 14 caves, three lakes, six wildlife parks, five dive sites and five reefs/shoals. All these are maintained by the provincial tourism office.

One of my entries for the Express Your Art Photo Contest sponsored by Thunderbird Resorts. This one was taken at Rizal.

Thunderbird Resort in Rizal is a luxury gateway perched in a highland valley along the Sierra Madre range. The resort is more than the usual quiet mountain sanctuary and offers a 41-suite luxury resort sprawling mass of lush tropical greenery and elegant interior design. Laguna Bay can be viewed during daytime while the Manila skyline at night. At the foothills of the resort, you can find and explore a rich cultural patina of art houses, studios, galleries, museums, and heritage sites.

About
Panglao is a fourth class municipality in the province of Bohol, Philippines. Panglao is known for its diving locations and tourist resorts. At the pristine beaches, tours can be organised to world famous diving sites. The dive sites that can be found on the northwest tip of the Panglao Island are Doljo Beach, Napaling and Puntod. These sites are deep and the currents are strong.

Panglao island is the site of Habitat for Humanity's "Tabalong Habitat Village". The village, still under construction, has capacity for 500 houses on land donated by local merchant Alturas. So far, around 200 houses had been built and inhabited. Tabalong Habitat Village is visited by Global Village Teams, international volunteer teams who travel to the area to assist in construction.

Bohol can pride itself in the interest of many biologists who specialize in the study of shells, as Bohol is one of the most richest habitats of sea shells. With an unparalled number of species, many of them unique to Bohol.

The pool shown is one of the original holding pools during the original "Seaworld" built in the 1950's. It is located at the Snapper Rocks with Point Danger in the background. The Tweed river is the other side and is the divider between the states of New South Wales and Queensland.

I hate the first version of this photo and even asked myself what the hell was I thinking? Where did I get those colours from?

I like this version far better. Even named it after my favourite ice cream.

Taken at the Nomad Sports Centre in Merville, Parañaque City. The Nomads Sports Club is generally considered the most active and recognized Sports Club in the Philippines. Members of the Nomad Sports Club enjoy a wide range of facilities that cater not just to the sports buffs but also for many social and recreational activities. Located on the edge of Merville Park Subdivision, the grounds occupy over 2 hectares of parkland broken up in to several sports areas. The absence of any high-rise in the vicinity ensures that a refreshing pollution-free breeze provides comfort for patrons virtually every day and evening.

Nomads were the founders of rugby in the Philippines, and we are proud to be made up of one of the most mixed groups in the Club, with guys from the Philippines, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, France, England, Scotland, Wales, Holland, Belgium, Kenya and Zimbabwe in the current squad. NUVALI transforms the 1,700-hectare property in Laguna into the first sustainably developed eco-community in the Philippines. A gazebo and viewing decks with fun and experiential exhibits are found inside the bike and foot trails for bird-watching enthusiasts, families and groups as an outdoor recreational activity. A total of 76 faunal species composed of 62 bird species, 7 mammal species, 7 herpetofaunas and 55 species of flora were recorded through Haribon’s Biological survey of NUVALI conducted last November 19-22 and December 4-6, 2008. Thirteen species or 17% of vertebrate fauna (10 birds, 1 mammal and 2 lizards) are endemic including 2 restricted-range species or island endemics restricted to Luzon faunal region. A total of 36 indigenous with 10 endemic floral species to the Philippines were also recorded.

Camiguin is a volcanic island that was formed because of the volcanic eruptions and land movements which have created this spectacular and beautiful island. Camiguin is pear shaped in form and has a total land area of 238 square kilometers. Camiguin offers a beautiful scenic view which has spectacular natural wonders with historical and cultural heritage.

Kibila Beach is a white sand beach maintained by a community co-op. The co-op's main goal is the reproduction and preservation of the giant clams. Different displays about the co-op's work are shown.

One can snorkel with a local guide and see thousands of giant clams scattered on the reef fronting the beach. There is a shallow area where about 2 thousand baby clams are. The deep area is the best part. Giant clams, some as large as my outstretched arms, dot the seascape among equally gigantic coral reef. They're the most beautiful sight.

Point Danger in Australia is one place I want to revisit if given the chance. The last time we were there the sky was clear and a few of my photos came out really crap. Good thing I kept some of them and was able to re-process a few. The first version was something I am not particularly proud of (see below) because it was strongly overdone as you can see. This is an ideal learning curve when studying HDR processing.
