Taken last month at Half Moon Bay, 5 minutes before this shot. It's amazing how different the sky looks in these two shots, it really was an incredible sunset.

(btw, Cotton Candy is called Candy Floss here in NZ, but that just doesn't sound quite as good.)

This is the only sunrise photo I got from Waiheke, and I was lucky to get even that. It looked really promising when I got up at 5am and still good after I set up, but just as the sun started to rise this huge cloud came floating in from the right and pretty much covered the whole sky, ruining the shoot!

It didn't happen just once either - it happened two mornings in a row and then once when I was trying to get some sunset pics. I swear that cloud was possessed and had something against me. When I'm not being followed around by sheep or birds, it's big evil clouds!

I got this shot just before the evil cloud got in the way.

I went out to Muriwai with Mark (maloe4) last night and we caught this amazing sunset. It really did look like a painting out there, just beautiful.

Kohi Sunrise

This is sunrise at Kohimarama Beach, Auckland.

I managed to drag myself out of bed at 5:30 this morning. I thought I'd better get in another sunrise shoot before the weather craps out again, and it turned out to be a pretty nice morning.

This is a combination of 3 shots, manually blended in Photoshop. I also used a Singh-Ray 3-stop reverse GND filter to hold back the sun.

Oh, and I'm not sure if that's my footprint there or not, I can't remember! There were some doggies that ran past while I was taking the shot, but I don't think they were wearing shoes.
