Somehow, one of the samba guys got all the dancers, including those who had just shown up, doing relatively complicated routines in unison. A nice symbol of the collective action of protest.

The samba band played for over an hour while their own dancers and people from the occupation danced. Meanwhile, the kitchen had fired up a bbq and was cooking for the masses. It was excellent.

Welcome to Oscar Grant Plaza

Oscar Grant was the black man shot in the back while lying on the ground and handcuffed by a Bart police officer. By renaming the plaza after him, the occupiers are tying police brutality against people of colour to their occupation.
