I haven't yet fully processed what happened yesterday. It's just too soon and there isn't enough information and I don't want to join into the speculation discussion. I've gotten in touch with most people I know in the Boston area and no bad news there, but my thoughts are certainly with those who aren't and those I haven't heard back from. Peace and long life.

A throng of passengers exit the red line train towards the green line substation of the Park Street station. Many of these passengers are headed towards the 3rd home game of the Boston Red Sox's 2012 season.

Growing up in Houston, Texas, I'd never known the beauty and utility of public transportation until I came to Boston for school. Over my four years in Boston, I've become enamored by the motion and change that exists within the subway system and the people that use this service. As I revisited some of the popular stations of the Red Line, I began understanding and accepting the changing nature of the subway, stopped looking for the base movement of the trains and the people, and started seeing the uniqueness of each and every visit. Each passenger lives on their own terms and have their own personalities and I sought to capture the souls of my subjects by photographing their defining moments- moments that would tell me a bit of who they are and what their stories are.

I made this photograph during a short photo walk with the Boston University Photography Club through Boston's financial district. The woman in the photograph was propelling her wheelchair with her feet.

The Sun Sets Over Boston

My last several posts and many of my coming posts will be photographs I made for a basic photography course I took last spring in my final semester of undergraduate study at Boston University. Since the course was a black-and-white course, I thought I should throw some color photographs in to add some variety.

This particular photograph of the Charles River and MIT behind it was taken during an outing with the Boston University Photography Club in which we tried our hands at long exposure photography and light painting. BU Today made of us in which I speak a few words if you are interested in viewing here.

As was the case with my previous three posts, I made this photograph while completing the night photography assignment in the basic photography course I took in my last semester at Boston University. The wall in the photograph is of the Greater Boston Health Center, a part of the Planned Parenthood health services network.

Like my last two posts, this photograph was also made for my basic photography class. Each of these three photographs was made for the night photography assignment in which we had to turn in 200 photographs (including 15 finished photographs) each of scenes with direct light and incident light.

As I mentioned in my last post, I took a basic photography class during my last semester of undergraduate studies at Boston University. This particular image was taken during the night photography assignement. For this assignment, we had to make 100 photographs of night scenes with incident light and 100 photographs of night scenes with direct light. This was one of my direct light scenes.

During my final semester as an undergraduate student at Boston University, I opted to take a basic photography class in the College of Communications. I took the class despite knowing that I was unlikely to learn anything new in the class in terms of basic technical skills like aperture and shutter speed, but I knew that if I didn't do something that would require me to go out and shoot, I would end up dedicating no time to photography whatsoever as my engineering senior design project would likely consume most of my time.

Over the next couple weeks, I'll post some of the photos I took as part of that basic photography course, including some of the photos I submitted as part of my final project portfolio.

This particular photograph was made as part of a depth of field assignment in which we were required to shoot at f/16 and f/2 (or thereabouts).

So it's the last day of the ninth month of 2012 and I still have yet to post a single photo from 2012. This is my last post from last year and I will start posting from this year soon. I've got a lot to share- including photos depicting my new life in southeast connecticut and a project I undertook documenting the MBTA subway system in Boston for a photography class I took in the spring.

One year ago today, my friends Nate and Sabrin got married in Sherbon, Massachusetts and they were kind enough to have me as their wedding photographer. I made this photograph at the Boston University Photography Club's first photowalk of the 2010-2011 school years. After two years at the helm of the BUPhotoClub, I've graduated from BU and stepped down as President of the group. For the record, the title was partially inspired by the subjects of the photograph. By which I mean one of them chose the word "Sunny" at random and the other chose the word "Cheese" at random.

So after many months, this will be my final post from last summer's roadtrip across the Southwestern United States. I could post more, but I don't think I will- at least not in the forseeable future.

This particular photograph was taken in Silverton, Colorado. Silverton's a popular tourist destination along the Million Dollar Highway partially due to the gold mining from decades past and partially due to the highly recommended Durango/Silverton train that transports hundreds of thousands of visitors between the two cities each summer.

I've got a small number of photographs left to post from 2011 and one more from 2010. I'll begin posting more recent photographs soon.
