Another Phonebook Cover. I am always excited to get a cover. Nice exposure and income, but seriously, the shark ads keep getting larger. Pretty soon the cover photo will be a lawyer's office with my picture in a small frame on the desk!

Sandy has largely wiped clean our autumn canvas and we are suddenly immersed in "stick season". A major consolation is to wander through those unedied October images. Here the morning mist softens the bright color on a hillside in Marlborough, New Hampshire.

Frost Free Library

The Frost Free Library in Marlborough New Hampshire is a classic example of a vibrant small New England town library. It was built just after the Civil War through the generosity of Rufus Frost, a native son who never lost his love of his country roots.

The library is the first stop of a tour down beautiful Route 124 that I descibe in my article for the New England Photography Guild . Check out "Monadnock's Most Photogenic Road at:

Back road in Marlborough New Hampshire. I rarely do heavy tonemapping, but I seem to be stuck on autumn roads and this was a much needed escape. Still I blended the tonemapped image with the straight version. Foregive me.

My blog this week is about star track photography. I'm using multiple images to assemble a picture with the concentric arcs that circle around the North Star. This image show the tracks over Monadnock before I edited out all the trails made by planes flying in and out of Boston.

Last night Steve Hooper and I spent a couple of hours with a very patient couple who let us shoot from their home. We are just starting to figure out time-lapse in hopes of including something like this in our upcoming documentary film on the mountain. Two hours of recording generated 8 seconds of video. The original is not so dark as this reduced resolution version.
