I haven't posted anything in a while because the time to go digiscoping hasn't really been there. This is from yesterday at Environmental Studies on the Piedmont with Joe Milmoe (herpshots here on Flickr). We sat in a hide for about an hour or so waiting for one of the drakes to swim close enough to photograph.

At the time we had switched camera bodies and I was using his 20D while he had the 5D, and I have to say if I were to go back to a crop sensor the 20D has some really pretty grain to it.

A digiscope from some tinkering around the house.

I've been using the Canon 5D more recently when digiscoping and not really missing the 1.6x crop factor of the rebel.

Another digiscope from last weekend. Hoping to get my back under control so I can at least get out for another trip or two before some winter migrants decide to start heading north. Until then I'll just have the regular stuff to post.

I didn't notice it until I looked at this image at 100% but it appears this bird has a major crack along the upper mandible and is missing a chunk of its beak towards the end.

I'm grasping for stuff to post. My back went out last weekend (I'm too young for this to happen :( )and it looks like I'm going to be tied to home for a little bit.

Creative backyard setups are next on the list of things to post when I have free-time around the house.
