I found these interesting unnamed falls near the Kipahulu visitor center in Maui's Haleakala National Park. I had a lot of trouble with blown highlights in the water so I used my Singh-Ray reverse GND which actually worked pretty well. It allowed me to put the darkest area right over the falling water while keeping everything else properly exposed. Thanks for looking.

When setting up this shot, I was initially drawn to the sunrise light hitting the face of Clements Mountain but it wasn't until I saw the orange light reflecting in the flowing water that I really got excited. Thanks for looking!

Hidden Falls

Grand Teton National Park

The light was horrendous when I set up to shoot these falls. Fortunately, I found this little spot where there was some shade and the light wasn’t quite as harsh. I went with the long exposure here not so much to blur the water but for the cool patterns that the bubbles were making. In this shot, they came out as white streaks in kind of a whirlpool pattern.

I took this photo only a few short minutes after I took this and the difference in the sky is amazing. I was really scrambling to capture all of the changing colors while trying different compositions, manually focusing, playing with my grads, and adjusting exposure times. Fortunately I was able to walk away with a few keepers.

I was planning to sleep in the morning I shot this but fortunately I changed my mind. This sunrise provided easily the best shooting of all the mornings I dragged my tired butt out of bed.
