On Main Street in Memphis

I haven't posted in so long my friends probably think I dropped off the face of the earth... but I haven't. Just a lot has been going on. I was in Memphis at the 2012 Society for American Archaeologists meeting where they had a few events to celebrate the accomplishments of my late father, anthropologist Lewis R. Binford who died a year ago. There was a party that was wonderful where people that knew him shared memories of who he was. It was lovely. I spoke as well. I had great visits with both family and friends.

Our cat loves to play with our Chihuahua and he love to hold him down when wrestling. This was taken for the "Moment in Time" NYTimes event. Thanks to Deanna and Alix for letting me know about this.

Her's is a closer shot mine has more of the overall scene. I think I may have lightened this one up too much. I am trying to learn more about photoshop and how to improve photos. I have lots to learn! I may replace it before too long if I get another version I like better.

From late Sept into late November the butterflys visited in swarms. They especially loved the chimisa in bloom. This year they arrived the day after my Fall Party, getting together dear friends in case I don't live too much longer. Now the chemo and good wishes, prayers and love must be helping. I am one year on the 26th of December from my diagnosis with Amyloidosis... continuing oral chem every 4 weeks.,,, and it is working!

Autumn is my favorite time of year in New Mexico. It is cool and crisp... everything seems to be in high definition. I love bringing the sunflowers that bloom along every irrigation ditch and field home to enjoy. These chairs and table also are uniquely New Mexican with designs inspired in part by native pottery. Similar art inspired Pop Shaffer's art at the Shaffer Hotel in Mountainaire.

I spent some of my growing up on both sides of this door and was glad to see it again. My Dad got it in Mexico when he was building the house. I smiled from ear to ear seeing it again.

Even after we saved the bug from being attacked by the cat, we wouldn't leave it alone. Here on the tomato plant it soon found refuge.
