It’s mom’s birthday today; she is 77 years old.

Why this flower? I don’t know what it is, and that is one of the things I continually realize about my mom… she has secrets. I don’t think any would prove to be dramatically scandalous were they revealed, though who knows? I do think most are small, and are those secrets that we of younger generations could learn to equally respect as “decisions of discretion.”

Not everything needs to be told, and there are indeed times it is better they aren’t. This is something our parents and grandparents assumed better the way we assume honorable transparency and full truthfulness to be. Yet who is to say either of us are wrong? Is it a consideration of truth, or one of discretion, and thus another deeper wisdom?
