Taken near Capel Curig, Snowdonia National Park, Wales over looking a small lake to the West of Snowdonia. One of a just a few shots I got on a day out in the welsh valleys.

It's been a while since I tried any HDR shots & not crazy for this shot, tho I do really like the random farm; you might need to view full size to see it.

Ducks swimming on Lake Pearson, Arthur’s Pass National Park, South Island, New Zealand

On the drive though Arthur’s Pass National Park we stopped by Lake Pearson for a picnic. The water was still and it was really peaceful. A family of ducks showed some interest in my crisps, so swapped them a few of some photos.

I thought the sitting cloud looked awesome and quite bizarre. This was taken from on top of Mt John which overlooks Lake Tekapo.

Fox Glacier, West Coast, South Island

Fox Glacier, West Coast, South Island, New Zealand

We took a 1-2 hour walk up to both the Fox and Franz Josef Glaciers. On both walks we followed frozen rivers which lead to the foot of the Glaciers. They were a little dirty but amazing to see, it was so strange standing near an ice river & glaciers in the middle of summer when the air temperature was over 25 degrees.

Tasman Glaciers, Aoraki National Park

We took a short drive from Twizel to see Mt Cook from the West side. After a couple of hours of walking we made it up the right side of Mt Wakefield to see the Tasman Glacier & Thermal Lake – complete with huge floating icebergs. The sky and water where rich blue and clear, the view was just epic, 360 degrees of snow capped mountains and a beautiful still lake sitting right in the middle. It was so strange standing near an ice lake & glaciers in the middle of summer when the air temperature was over 25 degrees.

The Huka Falls are a set of waterfalls on the Waikato River that drains Lake Taupo. It is the most visited tourist attraction in NZ. We took a river cruise along the Waikato River up to the Falls it was awesome looking at a 220,000 litres per second waterfall straight in the eye.

A seagull gathering at Lake Rotorua

I took a wobbly walk out on this wooden dock over Lake Rotorua to get some shots of an insane amount of Seagulls. Just to the left of this shot around 20 fishermen stood neck deep in water casting lines, I hope they caught more than I did while prawn fishing...

Mt Ruapehu (aka Mt Doom), Tongariro National Park, New Zealand

This was one of the mountains Peter Jackson used as Mt Doom from the Lord of the Rings Films. We had been driving a long side it for what felt like ages before I had the opportunity to pull over and take some photos. Was a really cool place on the wasteland looking at the huge Mt Ruapehu and Mt Ngauruhoe; I had a proper Frodo moment.

Lake Taupo was the place where me and Cat did our 15,000ft Skydive :). Lake Taupo is the largest lakes in New Zealand (bigger than the whole of Singapore), it was created by a volcanic eruption (Oruanui eruption,) 5,000 years ago – which was the biggest ever recorded eruption!

I nearly died taking this photo. I was stood on a road bridge over the water, at dusk. I was on the road but there were no cars around (or so I thought). After 5 minutes of taking photo’s I looked to my left and a huge 18 wheeler wagon was approaching at about 60mph, there was not enough time to get off the bridge so I held on to the rail as it pasted, it nearly blew me off – after that I went back to the safety of my car and cleaned my pants!

Interislander ferry, Tory Channel, South Island, NZ

We caught the ferry from Wellington on the North Island to Picton on the South; the ferry is the only way to travel between the two islands without flying. The journey was 3 hours, 2 of which were spent inland surrounded by beautiful landscapes and small island. It was a bit nippy on the top deck with just a tee-shirt but had to brave the cold and take photos :)
