Close up shots of a adult giraffe, taken earlier this year at Chester Zoo, England. I have tried playing with these photos a few times now and decided to stop and post, or they were in ganger of never getting shared and lost somewhere on my hard drive.

the Hoffman lime kiln, Langcliffe

Taken at Hoffman Lime Kiln, Langcliffe, Near Settle, North Yorkshire, England.

The lime kiln was built in 1873 and is one of the biggest of it’s kind still standing. It an amazing place to visit and photograph :)

the edge of darkness

I have lived less than 30 minute walk from here for nearly 20 years and only been three times, this was the first time with my camera. I had to drag my sister (seen at the far end of this shot) with me as the kiln is pretty creepy on your own. It's hard to describe the kiln, I guess it's like a large man-made cave and above ground?

This shot was taken on a 30 second exposure, f/22 in the West chamber facing North.

An old(ish) photo, I havn't had much flickr time of late. Tho I shot a big wedding last weekend and hope to be able to post some photos from that soon :) I also have couple of photo trips lined up this month too, so I plan on being much more active over the next few months!

a snow capped romance

This was one of those photos I wasn't keen on when I took it, but once viewed on my pc liked more and more. It was taken back home again from my parents back garden, the snow capped hills in the background surround the town.

This will be my last photo for a while... I fly to New Zealand for a 3 week break tomorrow night! We have our road trip route planned out & my camera bag is packed, (with 19 gig of memory!). Expect lots of landscape shots when I return :)

in search of solid ground

I took this photo while back at my parent’s house, from the front room window.

I lived there for 22 years; looking out of the window at least once a day (I am not great at maths but I am pretty sure that’s a few thousand times). I have no idea why it took nearly 10,000 days to decide that it might make a good photo... but here it is.

I guess I have learnt that you don't need to look for photo opportunities as there’s normally one in front of your eyes.

This photo will always make me feel like I am at home, which is an awesome feeling.

Another quick, singing tree post, I haven’t had chance to get out this weekend for some new photos :( But I spent most of the weekend planning for New Zealand, only 8 days to go! I am going to be working nearly every night this week to get everything done before I go, but all I really want to do is take some photos, damn work!
