Self portrat with double bass.

I don't like pictures of myself, so this is a real leap to put this image up on Flickr. I have a couple more in this set that I'll likely put up too.

Strobist Info:
SB25 camera left @ 1/16th power with shoot-through umbrella. Positioned about 3 feet off the ground.
SB28 camera right @ 1/4th power with shoot-through umbrella. Positioned at about 6 feet high.
580ex @ 1/4th powewr on camera right, high up with 1/2 CTO gel and homemade gridspot. I attached the 580 to the backdrop support with a gorilla pod.
As always, everything was triggered using PocketWizards.

I used my TS-E 45mm f/2.8 (tilt-shift) for this shot. I've been wanting to use it for portraits for some time. Can you see the abnormal plane of focus?

I obviously altered it a fair bit in LightRoom after. I added a graduated filter with a negative exposure from the left edge for dramatic effect. My wife says it goes too black, but it is EXACTLY how I wanted it... so there!

This shoot was kind of fun. I used the Canon EOS software to auto-download the images to a hot folder to auto-import in LR. I also used my intervalometer to trigger. This shot actually happened while I was setting up. I like htis shot best from the set and it was an accident - isn't that always the way :-)

I took a couple setup shots of a HUGE X-Rite ColorChecker and HUGE grayscale. I made presets from these to apply to the auto-import.

Oh, and I'm wearding my Guiness toque because I'm a little sick today.

Noisy Bass

Doing test shots with my new 5D Mark II with stupid-high ISO.

I kind of liked this shot so I'm keeping it. It was kind of noisy at this ISO (3,200), but I made it noisier with the processing. I always prefer more extreme effects.

Can't seem to make time to play it, so I may as well shoot it.

You can really see the effect of the TS if you compare my left and right hands. I probably should have recorded the tilt that I applied - next time.

Can't decide if I prefer this hat or my Guiness tuque.

BTW, I know that the shadows are totally clipped. It was intentional.

As a note, there isn't a f/6.3 aperture disk in my Lensbaby kit. That was what I was previously shooting with the TS-E, so I moved the lights in until my Sekonic reported f/8.

The lensbaby image quality sure isn't the same as my TS-E, but I do like how the out of focus areas imply motion.

My acoustic bass. This is "guitar" styled, not like my upright (double) bass.

Did this with my 50mm f/2.5 Macro and my wife's twin lights.

I kind of ripped off this idea. A guy I work with has a desktop pattern that is similar (sort of).
