And so because the rich people down below were tired of people killing themselves up above, the government put in this butt ugly, a $1.5 million fence on this hundred year old historic bridge.

Pity it didn't actually work. Eight months after it went up, police handled 28 suicide calls on the bridge - the first call came in only two days after the fence was complete.

So thanks Seattle. Thanks for blocking the view for no real good reason.

Taking a break from the Halloween Horror to attend the opening of the new Dicks Drive Thru. The parking lot was PACKED like you wouldn't believe, so I didn't actually have a burger.

I just went to hear 1,000+ people chant "We want Dicks! We want Dicks!"

Today's mini road trip to go get a hamburger at Zeke's Drive In resulted in this short hike. I also used it as a field test to see how my new boots would handle real hiking and if my new tripod is too much of a pain to haul to Red Rock.

This one is a bit of a cheat, since I've snapped this sign before - but that was many, many years ago and it wasn't in the sexy Kodachrome blue. That and I think it's a cool sign anyway, so here it is again!

The US/Canadian customs checkpoint, circa 1890 or thereabouts. It's a bit further south than these days, smack in the middle of the Molson ghost town.

So while I had to kill three hours on Aurora while I had my car stereo installed, I snapped this picture from the overpass. It's not a great picture I'll admit, but it does follow my mandate of document my surroundings, so my (thus far nonresistant) kids can look at this 40 years from now and go "You had cars that drove on the ground? And what's a Burger King?"

This industrious fellow was peddling like mad up the side (more or less) of Mount Rainier. Good job on him, that's something I'll never have the motivation to do when my car is perfectly good.

Half way up highway 410, just past Greenwater (which isn't all that green, really) there's this hella cool waterfall, tucked away in a blink-and-you'll-miss-it canyon.

The lesser seen side of Mount Rainier - well, if you live on the north side I mean. I guess the people on the south end of the state see this side all the time.

I was quite pleased how I was able to save this one. In the original, the sky was way overexposed (although I shot to compensate for that), but was able to darken the sky in photoshop without ruining the rest of the trainyard.

If you look close, you can probably see the join - but if I had never mentioned it. . . .
