Why I shoot film

I didnt mean to keep this one uploaded, it was only so I could find the picture on the map with the EXIF data, but I think I might keep it to demonstrate why I think 35mm film is better than digital.

(This one is the digital version, by the way. Both shots are straight out of camera, without any adjustment in photoshop, save for a slight increase in exposure on the film version - but then I shot it too dark by a couple of stops)

And so there I was, on a road trip along Highway 101 to the Olympic National Forest. Along the way we stop at randome greasy spoon in the nearby town of Forks for dinner, where upon my traveling companion tells me all about this Twilight stuff, a phenomenon that I had been largely (and blissfuly) ignorant of up until this point.

I don't mind the town sucking at the teat of fame as long as the 15 minutes holds out - good for them in fact. I mean, when was the last time anyone went to Roslyn or Fall City? I rest my case. However, holy smokes - did they really have that 'pimp themselves' thing down to a science. Everything - and I mean EVERY thing in town was Vampire and Twilight related.

Sheer insanity, I tells you!

(Oh, and for future monster hunters: if they don't burst into flame and die when exposed to sunlight, then odds are the target in question is NOT a vampire)

Donald Goerke passed away today. You may not know the name, but you know his work - he was the marketing research director of Campbell's Soups who created Spaghetti Os back the early 1960s. He was dreaming up pasta in shapes that would appeal to kids, and he chose the o. They were marketed with the unforgettable tagline, "Uh-oh, Spaghetti Os."

On my roadtrip to the Olympics, I had my film camera, my DLSR, the disposable Fujifilm, and a point-n-shoot in the trunk that I'd forgotten about.

I think I've got too many cameras. . . .
