Taken with a ten stop filter for about two and a half minutes. For half of the exposure I waved the back of my phone up and down over the top half of the lens to act as a grad and compensate for the light difference - I think its called black carding.

I've 'shopped in the other handrail on the right to try and balance out the pier - and I'm mucking about with photo-shop.

Loch Ruthven - Sunset

A lovely sunset over Loch Ruthven tonight - icey roads were a bit sketchy though.

This is a 450 second long exposure shot with my ND 110 filter.

Edit - I've ditched the borders again, can't make up my mind if they add anything or not.

Lobster Pot - Elgol Skye

A long exposure shot from Elgol Harbour. This was taken a few minutes after the shot i posted earlier.

In the space of about 5 minutes the rain had closed in from the Cuillins beyond. The sunshine was still behind me, the sky turned black and I could probably reach out and touch the wall of rain coming towards me. As the rain closed in the rainbow got closer too, quite a sight.

I thought the central horizon was worth it to get in all of the rainbow.

I had to clone off a few rain drops that splashed onto the filter.

First time I've ventured down here to see Bow Fiddle Rock.

I was surprised to see how big it was!

I think the rock would lend itself well to a mono shot with its textured surfaces - I'll have a try with another shot tonight.

A long exposure at Monikie Country Park. The sunset wasn't great but the reflected colours in the sky on the other side of the park weren't bad.

The water was very high with all the recent rain and I couldnt get far enough out to take the plants out of the frame.

I arrived here a bit too late as the light had fallen behind the trees leaving the river a bit dark with the dull light.

I've tried to process this in mono to compensate for the poor light.

Tay Rail Bridge - Long Train Running

Staying with my recent trend for bridge shots.

This was taken a bit earlier than my last Tay Bridge shot. I tried to stretch out the shutter speed to capture the train crossing.

As the Doobie Brothers hit goes "Down around the corner half a mile from here

Tay Rail Bridge - Blue Hour

Headed down to the banks of the River Tay at Wormit on Friday with my brother (thefreescot) to catch what promised to be a great sunset. Unfortunately that big blanket of rain cloud on the horizon killed it.

Decided to opt for a long exposure (230 seconds to be exact) with my Nd110 filter stacked with a polarizer. Stacking both was a bit of an experiment and at 10mm focal length there is a fair bit of vignetting. The colours came out really well but almost too much and I can see a bit of banding in the sky - not to worry though, I quite like it and it was something new.

My bro will kill me for putting his picture on here too lol.

A long exposure shot at Dores Beach in the Scottish Highlands. I've used a polarizing lens to slow the shutter speed down rather than a 10 stop filter, seems to intensify the colours a bit more.

Kessock Bridge - 80 seconds of sunset

A long exposure shot of the Kessock Bridge and Moray Firth in the Scottish Highlands. The clouds weren't moving along as fast as I'd have liked. I think this is the first time I've had to de-saturate a sunset!

To get here I had to tread along the rocky path only exposed when the tide is out. Had to keep an eye behind me as the tide can come in pretty fast down here.

Shot with a 10-20mm lens and a B+W ND110 filter.

An old wreck at the marina in Fort Augustus, Scottish Highlands. Couldn't get a clear shot without the trees and had to clone out a few other distracting elements in the back ground. Not the best job but a great subject.

Crail Harbour - Fife

Another one from Saturdays trip along the fife coast. I've made a point to try and get back to these spots when I have more time, some lovely little villages.

A long exposure but taken in the dark so just needed a grad. The cokin filters I have tend to show a purplish cast with longer exposures but I quite like the effect here.

Loch Clair in Torridon with Liathach Mountain range off in the background. Liathach is one of my favourite hills for walking.

Missed the light here so resorted to a long exposure to try and bring out what was left of the sunset colours. It was very windy and those clouds were pushed along at quite a rate.

The effect is a bit weird and the water movement a bit too much but it is something a bit different!!

A long exposure shot of the Moray Firth near Inverness. This spot is just two minutes from my house. I spotted the sunset cooking up nicely, grabbed my camera and got down to the beach. A bit late but with the weather being terrible all weekend it was nice to see a bit of decent light.
