Best part is at the end.
Shot freehand with my iPhone with my left hand as I threw the ball with my right.
Elliott was in a particularly playful mood tonight and was jumping quite high some of the time, as you can see by the last jump.

Land of Evangeline: Spring 2013

I shot this video on Good Friday 2013 on the Grand Pre Dyke near the Acadian Cross, and at the canteen area at Evangeline Beach in King's County, Nova Scotia.

It was just early Spring here, so the snow had just melted recently and there wasn't much green growing on the land.

The first part of this video shows the area in Hortonville near the Acadian Explusion memorial cross near the mouth of the Gaspereau River as it empties into the Minas Basin.

The second part of this video shows the Minas Basin at full Spring tide a few minutes later.

In both segments you can see Cape Blomidon in the background, which is a very unique landmark that everyone knows in the area.

Rooftop Blowing Snow

Blowing snow off of a downtown Moncton rooftop today at lunch time.
It was a very cold day today here in Moncton: -20C or less. We are definitely in the deep freeze this week. Weather forecasters are saying this week will be the coldest week of the winter.
I was out walking for a bit today at lunch, and this view caught my eye so I took a video of it with my iPhone. I like how the wind currents catch the snow.

This is my Halloween card to all my family and friends here and around the world.

My parents suggested that it would be a good idea for Halloween, and they even gave me the title to use.

Over the past week, I've noticed these crows waking up in the morning and flying over Mountain Road near Trinity around sunrise. So today I decided to get up at 6:30 AM and go out to shoot some video of them. I stayed out for about 1 hour getting this video.

The song is from one of my fave UK trip hop bands from Bristol -- Massive Attack. The melancholy love song is called "Live with me".

Here's a fun little video that I did over the past couple of days on and off. The idea popped into my head several days ago and then I started making it a reality. At first it was going to be something a bit more Dali-esque, then I noticed that the cutlery had a certain something in common with the marching hammers in Pink Floyd's The Wall, and it went on from there. My choice of Aerosmith's live version of "Eat the Rich" from their album "A little south of sanity" just seemed perfect in the end.

More fun with Star Wars Lego.
Chapter 2 of an ongoing microseries of very short videos.
One of my friends said that the first chapter reminded him of the old 1960s TV series with models "Thunderbirds". I can see the similarities. =)

This clip took a week to do end to end.
I worked on it mostly on weekends.
This involved: Buying and assembling the Legos, shooting and reshooting a lot of blue screen footage of the Legos, shooting the background, compositing the clips, and adding the music and sound effects.
I searched a lot for the music on CCMixter, and this was the most appropriate.
I had sound effects for the spaceships originally, but decided to take it out in favour of the music.

I went for a sort of comic book look here, sort of like the old Batman series from the 1960s.
My wife suggested that I used a gloomy and not a cheerful background.
The background harkens back to an episode of the reimagined Battlestar Galactica from the early 2000s in which Kara "Starbuck" Thrace dies.

Bonus points if you can guess how I did the special effects for the stylized explosion.

After a long, dry, hot, sunny summer - the driest in 28 years, it finally rained a lot on Wednesday this week.
Moncton got 65mm of rain.
Other parts of New Brunswick got 112mm.

I shot these videos on Wednesday afternoon with my iPhone 4S and then played with them for a couple of days to get this result. The final render took 30 minutes on my quad core i7 machine!

Timelapse video of downtown Moncton, New Brunswick this afternoon.
I've always had a thing for urban structures and clouds reflected in them sped up. Something about the man made and the natural combining.
