Here's a cool surreal special effects music video that I've been working on for about 2 weeks on an off in my spare time. It continues the idea of the video cubes that I've been playing with for a several iterations now, but this time I wanted to do things with my hands.
The ideas behind this video evolved over the span of the 2 weeks and gelled this morning when I woke up. I tried it with several different music selections, but when I was listening to iTunes yesterday I came across this recent live version of The Police's "Wrapped around your finger" which seems to go quite well with the hands in each cube.
I was trying to do something surreal, I'm not quite sure if I succeeded.
What do you think?

Also, I started to read an effects book that I bought several months ago, and learned that a lot of this stuff can be programmed with a scripting language. Being a software guy, I think that's cool, and I dreamt up another idea that I want to try that's a lot more math-intensive than what you see here -- so now I have another cool video concept to try to implement in my spare time.

DSC_6358: Testing out time lapse night time photography with my new 18-300mm lens in our yard last week. There was a low flying propeller airplane circling around in a holding pattern waiting to land at the airport. I managed to capture a good portion of its wing lights as it flew over our house.

Had a very long work week.

I am reminded of the saying written on the side of a ceramic pencil holder my wife gave me as a birthday present several years ago, "Think outside the box, even when you work in a cube!"

I was introduced to the Bristol, UK trip hop group Massive Attack several years ago when I first started at my current company by one of the guys on my team. This is one of my favourite songs of theirs and I think it goes very well with this video.
