after a doctor's appointment i decided to take a walk in golden gate park. as i was walking up to towards the conservatory of flowers i spied this pink umbrella and snapped this using iphone's hipstamatic app.

Thank you everyone for helping me to recall that this is a hibiscus. Gosh, it's lucious. The butterfly is a Julia, according to the guide I purchased at the Conservatory, and as far as I can tell from squinting even when viewing large, that is, I mean it's camouflaged so well and all.

I went to visit the Butterfly Zone exhibit at the Conservatory of Flowers yesterday. I posted very late, so late that it was the next day, as we went to a local photography group and saw the most amazing slide show about this SF photographer's journeys to the Falkland islands and further South. Penguins and more penguins, the pics were stunning! Here's a link to his website: Enrique Aguirre Photography. But check out my pic large first! It's not perfect, but GAWD it was 100% humidity inside the glass house and I was gasping like a fish by the time I was taking the shots.

Part of a series of photos from my visit to the Conservatory of Flowers at Golden Gate Park to see the CHOMP! carnivorous plants exhibit. Boy, was it ever HOT inside there! And shooting conditions were not the best, to say the least!
