this is the church of Trinita dei Monti which sits atop the Spanish Steps and overlooks the Piazza di Spagna...the monument in front of the church is called the Salustiano Obelisk, placed by Pope Pius VI and is the largest obelisk to be erected by the Roman Papacy and is supposed to imitate the Egyptian obelisks...i took this shot right around the start of sunset and used an UWA lens to get this massive church and lots of sky into the frame...processed this into a single file HDR image just to get more definition in the sky and clouds...have a great night everyone...pls. from Florence, we hopped on the Eurostar train once more to head over to Rome, Italy which was the next stop of our tour...on our first night in Rome, we decided to check out some of the sights near our hotel...this is the famous Spanish Steps in Piazza di Spagna...they are a set of steps, climbing a steep slope between Piazza di Spagna at the bottom and Piazza Trinita dei Monti at the top of the steps...the white gleaming stucture at the top is the church of Trinita dei Monti...the fountain at the bottom is called the Fontana della Barcaccia or Fountain of the Old Boat...the steps were lined with pots of roses and azaleas and from what i've heard and read, the steps are always crowded with people and is one of the most vibrant spots i found in Rome most especially at night...pls.
