Within an hour of this picture being taken, the remaining chick fledged the nest and I got it on video www.youtube.com/watch?v=mwZ_576YttY. What an amazing opportunity I had to document the progress.

I saw the two of them together this morning, then by the time I looked again there was only one. Mom is still feeding, but I have video where she is poking the baby as if to make it leave. The video I have also captures the chick strengthening its wings. By tomorrow I think we will be saying goodbye for this year.

Mom just left so I got in quickly with the macro lens. Their eyes are open more now, but they are sleepy little things. They look at me for a second or two, then go back to sleep.
